PSAC Football Athletes of the Week – 7

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selected this week’s football athletes of the week. From the Eastern Division, West Chester University’s Jordan Cooper, Shepherd University’s Donte Harrison and Dawson Evitts of Kutztown University were picked. In the West, Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Mak Sexton, Slippery Rock University’s D.J. Adediwura and Clarion University’s Jarrett Esposito were selected.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selected this week’s football athletes of the week. From the Eastern Division, West Chester University’s Jordan Cooper, Shepherd University’s Donte Harrison and Dawson Evitts of Kutztown University were picked. In the West, Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Mak Sexton, Slippery Rock University’s D.J. Adediwura and Clarion University’s Jarrett Esposito were selected.

True freshman QB Cooper Jordan engineered a pair of touchdown drives in the fourth quarter, including a 15-yard TD toss with 16 seconds left that capped the youngster's first game-winning fourth quarter comeback. He finished the day with 133 yards rushing on 12 carries. He also completed 7 of 16 passes for 62 yards, including the two TD passes late in the fourth quarter on WCU's final two possessions. Jordan's 133 rushing yards were the most by a WCU QB since A.J. Long rushed for 135 yards in the 2018 PSAC Championship Game against Slippery Rock.

Shepherd freshman Donte Harrison tallied a pair of defensive touchdowns in Shepherd’s victory over Millersville Saturday. He returned a fumble 60 yards for a score and added a 29-yard interception return for a score. He also recorded three solo tackles.

Kutztown kicker Dawson Evitts tied a school record by making five field goals, including a career-long 41-yarder, in the Golden Bears' 29-10 PSAC East victory at Shippensburg Saturday. The senior kicker, a transfer from Erie C.C., was a perfect 5-of-5 in hitting from 31, 41, 31, 36 and 39 yards to tie Matt Dineen's program single-game record set against Cheyney back in Oct. 2009. Evitts has brought stability to Kutztown's kicking game, converting 7-of-9 field goals (77.8%) and all 13 of his extra point attempts this season.

Went 16-18 passing with 338 yards and three touchdowns in an efficient outing against Edinboro. He tallied a long of 61 yards and tossed two touchdowns to Duane Brown and one more to Hilton Ridley. Sexton distributed the ball around as 10 different IUP players had a reception and went over 300 yards passing for the third time this season.

Adediwura led a dominant defensive effort by Slippery Rock in a 40-14 win over Gannon. He had 3.0 solo sacks, including one for a safety, to go along with four tackles for loss and one additional QB hurry. Gannon entered the game averaging 181 rushing yards per game but were limited to -9 rushing yards on the day.

Jarrett Esposito had easily the best game of his collegiate career on Saturday, lifting the Golden Eagles to a 23-21 win over Mercyhurst on the road. Entering the game against the Lakers, Esposito had made four career field goals on six career attempts. On this night, though, he hit three field goals of 30, 32 and 30 yards. None were more consequential than the final one, with Esposito drilling a walk-off 30-yard field goal as time expired to cap the Golden Eagles' game-winning eight-play, 52-yard drive.
