NCAA Women’s Soccer Bracket
SEATTLE, Wash. --- The West Chester University Golden Rams women’s soccer team suffered its only loss of the season in the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer National Title game to the Western Washington University Vikings, falling 2-1, from Interbay Stadium in Seattle, Washington Saturday.
The Golden Rams finished a remarkable season with a 23-1-1 overall record, while Western Washington ends the year with a 21-2-4 mark.
It was an absolute battle in Seattle as for most of the match, it seemed the contest was heading to overtime.
Western Washington struck first as Tera Ziemer got a goal in the 14th minute with a pass from Claire Potter and Katie Watt making it 1-0.
But just 10 minutes later, WCU answered right back with the equalizer. Alyson Cutter received a pass from Kiley Kergides and found the back of the net to level the score.
For most of the second half, the score remained tied, and it seemed the contest was tracking to overtime, but Western Washington’s Potter put an incredible strike from outside the box to give the Vikings the late lead, 2-1. The goal proved to be the difference as the Vikings held on to win, 2-1, and won the DII National Title.
The Golden Rams put together a fantastic run, however, finishing the year as the DII Runner-Up, Atlantic Region Champions and PSAC Champions. WCU ends its 2022 campaign as the first-ever DII Women’s Soccer Runner-Up from the PSAC.
Kaitlynn Haughey, Allison Cutter, Deanne Lebotesis were named to the DII Women's Soccer Championship All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the match.
SEATTLE, Wash. --- The West Chester University Golden Rams women’s soccer team defeated the Ferris State University Bulldogs in the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Final Four Thursday with a 2-1 victory. The win allowed WCU to advance to the DII National Championship Match Saturday.
WCU is looking to become the first NCAA DII Women’s Soccer Champion from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
With the win over Ferris St., WCU remains undefeated with a 23-0-1 overall record, while Ferris St. falls to 12-6-7.
In the victory, WCU got huge contributions from Jacqueline Hug, who scored the first goal of the game with WCU threatening most of the first half. She put one in the back of the net in the 25
th minute.
The Rams were not out of danger though, as the Bulldogs answered back, and the game was tied at half.
The game winner came from Maggie Lena off an assist from Kaitlynn Haughey and Hug in the 64
th minute.
Ferris state had some chances late, but WCU held on and earned the semifinal victory.
The Golden Rams await the winner of Western Washington and Columbus St.
The Championship Match will be played Saturday, December 3 at 6 p.m. ET from Interbay Stadium in Seattle.
ALBANY, N.Y. --- The West Chester University Women’s Soccer team (22-0-1) punched its ticket to Seattle, Washington, and the NCAA Division II Final Four Sunday with a 2-1 overtime victory over Franklin and Pierce University (16-4-3) from Sullivan Field in Albany, New York.
West Chester kept its undefeated and DII Championship hopes alive with the win as they will head to Seattle for the Final Four. The last four teams will be re-seeded and the DII Final Four will begin Thursday, December 1 in Seattle.
As for Sunday’s match, it was a thriller in Albany, as West Chester prevailed in overtime and it was a comeback victory.
After a Franklin & Pierce goal to start the second period, West Chester responded. PSAC Player of the Year Kaitlyn Haughey leveled the score with a goal in the high-center of the net making it 1-1.
The score would remain tied the remainder of the half and send us in to overtime.
In the 95th minute, Alyson Cutter put one in the lower left corner of the net to make it 2-1 in favor of the Golden Rams. Faith Matter got the assist on the score.
West Chester would then hold on and punch its ticket to the DII Final Four with the final score,
2-1 OT.
ALBANY, N.Y. --- West Chester's playoff run continues folliowing a 1-0 defeat of Kutztown in the NCAA Tournament Atlantic Region Final held at the College of Saint Rose.
Locked in a scoreless contest for nearly the entirety of game, West Chester junior Kiley Kergides broke the tie by netting the winning goal with just over a minute remaining. On the way to the shutout win, goalkeeper Hayley McGee made two saves.
With the victory, the Golden Rams will represent the PSAC in the NCAA DII Elite Eight when they play Franklin Pierce University.

INDIANAPOLIS --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference will have four women’s soccer programs compete in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament which begins Thursday, November 10.
The 2022 PSAC Women’s Soccer Champions, West Chester (19-0-1), claimed the top seed in the Atlantic Region and will earn a first round bye. The Golden Rams won the PSAC Championship against Gannon Sunday, 3-0
Gannon (14-3-4) is the No. 3 seed in the tournament. They’ll square-off against No. 6 Fairmont State (12-3-5) on Friday, Nov. 11 at 12 p.m.
Joining the Golden Rams and Golden Knights will be No. 4 Bloomsburg (14-4-2). The Huskies fell to Gannon in the PSAC women’s soccer tournament semifinals on Friday and will look to make a run in the NCAA Tournament. They will play No. 5 West Virginia State (16-2-2) Thursday at West Chester at 1 p.m.
Rounding out the four teams from the PSAC is No. 7 Kutztown. The Golden Bears (9-5-4) will have a tough matchup on the road at No. 2 Frostburg State (18-1-2).
