PSAC Football Athletes of the Week - 10

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Football Athletes of the Week for Week 10 of the 2023 season. From the West, Slippery Rock's Brayden Long was named Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, while IUP's Darius Bruce (Defensive Athlete of the Week) and California's Anthony Beitko (Special Teams) were also selected. In the East, Bloomsburg's Kaleb Monaco (Offensive) joins East Stroudsburg's Segei Felizor (Defensive) and Shepherd's Miles Greer (Special Teams) as the weekly honorees.

Long was nearly perfect in leading The Rock to a 56-18 win on the road at Edinboro Saturday, completing 85 percent of his passes (23-of-27) for 400 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. His NCAA QB passer rating for the game was 270.74, which ranks as the highest by any QB in Super Region One this year and is the sixth-highest single-game passer efficiency in the country this year. Of the top 15 single-game passer ratings this year in DII, Long's effort is the only one that included more than 25 passing attempts. On the season, he now ranks No. 1 in all of DII in passer efficiency with a season rating of 181.3 He has thrown 32 touchdowns and just two interceptions on 308 pass attempts.

Bruce had an incredible game in IUP's 39-27 road win over Clarion, posting five solo tackles, with three of them for a loss. He also logged two sacks, forced a fumble, and added two pass breakups in addition to blocking a field goal.

Beitko converted a pair of field goals and all four PAT attempts, as California earned a 34-17 win at Gannon to close PSAC West play. He made a pair of field goals (35, 27) in the fourth quarter against the Golden Knights. Beitko also averaged 59.0 yards on seven kickoffs, as Gannon’s average starting field position for the game was its own 26-yard line.

Monaco led the Huskies offensively to a 34-31 win over Millersville last Saturday. Monaco rushed for 90 yards on 21 carries, including a pair of touchdowns. Monaco caught a pair of passes for 14 yards and returned a pair of kickoffs for 58 yards. Monaco got the Huskies on the board first with a one-yard run with 7:07 to play in the first quarter. He scored the go-ahead touchdown with 11:19 to play in the fourth quarter on a 10-yard run. Seven of the plays that went to Monaco - six rushes and one catch - resulted in first downs.. Monaco ran four yards on 4st-and-1 at midfield to pick up a first down late in the fourth quarter. With the new set of downs, the Huskies drained the clock to 1:49 left in regulation before giving the ball back to Millersville. Monaco reached 896 yards for the season, which pushes him to 2,119 for his career -- currently13th all-time at Bloomsburg in career rushing yards as a junior.

Felizor's impressive defensive season continued last Saturday against Shepherd, where he recorded 15 tackles (14 solo) in addition to forcing a fumble and blocking an extra point. His season total of 88 tackles is third-most in the PSAC, averaging 8.8 per contest.

Greer has an exceptional game returning punts and kicks in Shepherd's 44-17 win against East Stroudsburg last Saturday. The freshman tallied three punt returns for 65 yards -- with a long return of 37 yards -- in addition to a kickoff return of 30 yards, totaling 95 yards in the return game.
