LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Wrestling Athlete of the Week, with Pitt-Johnstown heavyweight Isaiah Vance earning the honor.

Vance entered last weekend's Midwest Wrestling Classic in Indianapolis as the No. 3 seed and won the 285 pound championship with a 6-0 record. The tournament featured 48 teams, with the Mountain Cats finishing tied in the team standings in sixth place with host Indianapolis. Vance won by fall in the first round over Coker's Hamilton Cooper, then tallied a 6-0 decision over Lake Erie's Dillon Norris in the second round. He faced Maryville's Ryan Herman (ranked #20 nationally in the latest Open Mat individual rankings) and earned a 2-0 decision. In the quarterfinals, Vance earned a first period fall over No. 7-ranked Daulton Meyer from Thomas More, then defeated a pair of nationally-ranked heavyweights to claim the title. First was Mary's Luke Tweeten (No. 12) in the semifinals with a 5-0 decision, then a dominant 8-1 decision over No.6-ranked Mason Watt from Chadron State in the championship bout. Vance was ranked No. 8 in the latest Open Mat rankings and No. 7 in the latest NWCA national rankings.
