LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has named Bryan Kast as its new Director of Strategic Communications, Friday. Kast is currently an Assistant Director of Athletics Media Relations at Gannon University.
At Gannon, Kast is responsible for representing the Golden Knights’ 23 athletic teams and his duties include promoting teams on social media, managing visual and digital media, and curating live broadcasts for all home athletic contests as well as conference and regional tournaments.
Prior to Gannon, he completed a graduate assistant position at fellow PSAC institution, Millersville University. There he served as the Director of Sports Livestreaming, and he was given responsibilities in all aspects of the athletic communication office. His duties included being the main contact for Millersville women’s and men’s soccer, wrestling, and baseball.
Before Millersville, Kast was the Sports Director and Nightside Manager at Blue Ridge News 11 from 2011-18. He served as the sports anchor nightly at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Kast shot, edited, and produced video highlights and features. He was responsible for organization, scheduling, and day-to-day operations within the sports department. His live play-by-play capabilities covered wrestling, lacrosse, soccer, and field hockey while at Blue Ridge News 11.
“I am incredibly excited to join the PSAC as Director of Strategic Communications,” said Kast. “The position is a natural progression for my career, and I cannot wait to get started promoting the academic and athletic achievements of the many incredible student-athletes in the conference.”
“Bryan brings a wealth of experience in the area of streaming and social media to our office and a ready-made network of contacts and support within the Conference,” said PSAC Commissioner, Steve Murray. “He will help our Conference grow its messaging platforms and support we provide our institutions and student-athletes. We are pleased to have him join our staff.”
Kast received a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, telecommunications, and mass media from Temple University in 2008. He proceeded to earn a master’s degree in sports management from Millersville University in 2021, graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
