SPARTANBURG, S.C.
 – Graduate defender Sarah Gatehouse of the Kutztown University field hockey team was presented with her second consecutive NCAA Division II Field Hockey Elite 90 award during Thursday evening's championship banquet.

The NCAA Elite 90 award honors the exceptional achievements of student-athletes. The prestigious accolade is given to those who have not only excelled at a national championship level in their sport but have also achieved the highest academic standards among their peers. The Elite 90 is proudly awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.

Gatehouse, a native of Sinking Spring, Pa., has a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing her Master of Business Administration (MBA). When she earned her first Elite 90 award in 2023 at the NCAA Championship in Manchester, N.H., Gatehouse had a 4.0 undergraduate GPA in sport management. She received her bachelor's degree last December before beginning her graduate studies this spring.

Gatehouse is the third Division II field hockey student-athlete to receive the Elite 90 award in consecutive seasons, joining Shippensburg's Kristen Brooks (2009 and 2010) and West Chester's Nancy Stehman (2011 and 2012). Only four student-athletes have won multiple Elite 90 awards in DII field hockey with East Stroudsburg's Sydney McCarthy (2015 and 2017) joining Brooks, Gatehouse and Stehman.

The Elite 90 award is Kutztown's third in field hockey. Hannah Shirk was the 2019 recipient before Gatehouse in 2023 and 2024.

Gatehouse is a two-time NFHCA First Team All-American (2022 and 2023), three-time All-PSAC First Team selection (2022, 2023 and 2024), 2023 PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Year, three-time PSAC Champion Scholar (2022, 2023 and 2024) and a two-time NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete (2022 and 2023). In 77 career games --all starts-- she's produced 54 points on 17 goals and 20 assists. The Golden Bears posted a school record 14 shutouts on their way to the program's first national title in 2023.
