PSAC Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week - 5

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Women’s Tennis Athletes of the Week. In the West, Slippery Rock's Amaia Balaguer Brau earned the honor. In the East, East Stroudsburg's Alessia Bianchini was selected.

Balaguer Brau – the No. 49 ranked singles student-athlete in Division II – led Slippery Rock to a 6-1 victory over Goldey Beacom last week. Balaguer Brau earned wins out of both the No 1 singles and doubles flights against the Lightning.

Bianchini played a key role in ESU's first victory since October 14, 2019 as the graduate student finished the week 3-1 at No. 2 Singles and Doubles. Bianchini and teammate Sherin Paul breezed to an 8-1 triumph over Cedar Crest's Corinne O'Connor and Megan Fiedler to help the Warriors blank the Falcons, 9-0. In singles, the Caracas, Venezuela native knocked off Cedar Crest's Katherine Franzone in straight sets (6-3, 6-1), before rallying to defeat DeSales' Hope Hoppe (4-6, 0-6, 7-6).
