Pirosko, Johnson headline 2023-24 PSAC Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams and Major Awards

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has announced the 2024 Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners.

The All-Conference teams and Major Awards were determined by votes from the conference’s head coaches.

EAST

West Chester’s Leah Johnson was voted PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year. Johnson averaged 14.8 points per game in addition to 5.9 assists—1.2 assists per game more than any other player in the conference. Her assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.3 was also tops in the PSAC, and her 2.4 steals per contest was third-best. She led the Golden Rams to a 23-5 overall record (18-4 PSAC) and the No. 2 East seed in the conference tournament.

Lock Haven’s Alana Robinson was named Defensive Player of the Year after an incredible season of minding the paint for the Bald Eagles. Her 7.3 rebounds per contest was 11th-most in the conference and she added 2.4 blocks (most in the PSAC) and 1.6 steals to cement her status as a defensive force and a huge part of Lock Haven’s incredible turnaround.

Another Bald Eagle, Rhyln Rouse, was named Eastern Division Freshman of the Year after averaging 9.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She tallied 23 steals and six blocks on the defensive end.

Lock Haven head coach Jennifer Smith was awarded with Eastern Division Coach of the Year after finishing the regular season 26-2 (21-1 PSAC) and securing the East’s top seed – just one year after finishing as the sixth seed with an overall record of 11-17 and 9-13 in conference play.

WEST

Gannon’s Sam Pirosko earns her second consecutive PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Year award after leading the conference in scoring at 18.5 points per game.  She also added 7.8 rebounds per game, the eighth-highest total in the PSAC, and her 1.7 steals per game ties her for eighth-best in the conference.

IUP’s Rahmena Henderson was voted as the Western Division’s Defensive Player of the Year. Her average of 2.6 steals per game was tied for most in the conference, while IUP only allowed 56.7 points per game, the fifth-best total in PSAC and second only to Gannon’s 51.8 in the Western Division. Henderson averaged 5.4 rebounds and 15.9 points per game.

The Western Division Freshman of the Year award goes to Slippery Rock’s Regan Atkins, who averaged 15.2 points per game, good for 10th-most in the PSAC. She added 5.4 rebounds per game and tallied 20 steals and 12 blocks on the defensive end.

Gannon head coach Cleve Wright was voted Western Division Coach of the Year after guiding the Golden Knights to a 30-2 overall record (21-1 PSAC) and the West’s No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, where Wright and the Golden Knights will look to win the program’s third PSAC championship in the last four seasons.
