PSAC Football Athletes of the Week: Week 8

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Football Athletes of the Week for Week 8 of the 2025 season. In the Western Division, IUP's Devin Whitlock l is the Offensive Athlete of the Week while Edinboro's Sunday Ikegwuonu (Defensive Athlete of the Week) and California's Deontae Williams (Special Teams Athlete of the Week) were also selected. In the Eastern Division, Lock Haven's Jackson Ostrowsky is the Offensive Athlete of the Week and is joined by Bloomsburg's Nahzier Booker (Defensive) and Kutztown's Zach Perta (Special Teams.)
 
PSAC Western Division Offensive Athlete of the Week

Whitlock was named the MVP of the 16th annual Coal Bowl between IUP and California after catching nine passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns as the Crimson Hawks bested the Vulcans, 38-30, to move to 3-1 and a tie for first place in the PSAC Western Division. He also accumulated 118 return yards on five kickoffs, including a 59-yarder in the first quarter that led to IUP's first touchdown of the game to tie the game at 7-7.

Ikegwuonu was pivotal in the Scots' defensive effort in last Saturday's 41-20 win over Gannon. All three of his tackles came behind the line of scrimmage finishing with 2.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. He forced two fumbles including a sack fumble that he recovered at the 1-yard line setting up the Scots' second touchdown of the day. He also batted down one pass at the line of scrimmage.
 



PSAC Western Division Special Teams Athlete of the Week

Williams registered a 94-yard return for touchdown on the opening kickoff of the second half on Saturday, as the Vulcans suffered a 38-30 loss at IUP in the 16th edition of the Coal Bowl. He finished the game with 158 yards on four kickoff returns and added a pair of punt returns for 12 yards. Williams also eclipsed 100 receiving yards for the third-consecutive game, tallying 108 yards on nine receptions.

Ostrowsky threw for 334 yards and matched a career-high 5 touchdown passes in the 35-21 road win at Shippensburg. Ostrowsky threw a touchdown in all four quarters of the game, including a long of 68 yards, and finished the contest without committing a turnover.

Booker anchored the Huskies’ defense with a game-high 10 tackles, including a sack for 11 yards and two tackles for loss for 12 yards, leading a unit that recorded five sacks and three interceptions in the 37–21 victory. His pressure up front disrupted Millersville’s passing game throughout the afternoon and helped limit the Marauders to just one touchdown in the second half and under 100 rushing yards. His sack came on the Marauders' final drive to keep any comeback attempt at bay.



PSAC Eastern Division Special Teams Athlete of the Week

Perta made an impact on special teams and defense as No. 4 Kutztown defeated West Chester, 41-7, Saturday. Perta blocked his first career punt in the final minute of the first quarter. Teammate Justin Gonzalez picked it up and returned it for a touchdown to put the Bears up 21-0. KU would block another punt later in the game, giving them two blocked punts in a game for the second time this season. The Golden Bears have also scored two touchdowns off blocked punts in 2025. Perta finished with five solo tackles on defense as KU held an opponent to seven points or fewer for the fifth time in eight games.
