LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced the 2024-25 PSAC Men’s Golf All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners on Wednesday afternoon. Gannon’s Mattia Parrini was named Athlete of the Year, Pitt-Johnstown’s Lucas Smith earned the Freshman of the Year honor, and Gannon head coach Scott Stano was voted PSAC Men’s Golf Coach of the Year for the first time in his career.
The PSAC All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners are selected by a vote of the conference’s head coaches.
Gannon sophomore Mattia Parrini was named Athlete of the Year after compiling a scoring average of 71.8 in 29 rounds and won the individual title at eight-under-par at the 2024 PSAC Men’s Golf Championship. His other individual win was at the Sunnehanna Collegiate and he finished the season with eight Top-5 finishes, including a season-low score of 66 at the Bill Crabtree Invitational.
The Freshman of the Year award goes to Pitt-Johnstown’s Lucas Smith, who competed in 11 events (27 rounds) with a scoring average of 75.4. He collected seven Top-20 finishes, five Top-10’s, and two Top-5 spots, including a tie for third at the Sunnehanna Collegiate.
Gannon head coach Scott Stano earns his the PSAC Men’s Golf Coach of the Year honor after guiding the Golden Knights to a tie for first place at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional and the top spot at the 2024 PSAC Men’s Golf Championship.
