PSAC Men's Basketball Athletes of the Week - 9

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has announced its Men’s Basketball Athletes of the Week. In the West, Clarion's Trey Nelson (Athlete of the Week) and Gannon's Mackenzie Morgan (Defensive Athlete) were selected. In the East, Shippensburg's Markus Frank (Athlete) and Lock Haven's Warren Keith (Defensive) were honored.

Playing all but three seconds of both games last week, Nelson put on a display as the Golden Eagles earned wins against California (PA) - previously unbeaten in PSAC play - and Pitt-Johnstown at home. Nelson averaged 23.5 points and 9.0 assists per game in the wins, including a career-high 29 points against the Mountain Cats on Saturday. That game also saw him log 10 assists, with Nelson hitting double-digit dimes for a PSAC-leading fourth time this year; only two other PSAC players have done it as many times as once, with one of them being teammate Jeremy Thomas II. Nelson logged 18 points and eight assists in the win over the Vulcans on Wednesday.
 



Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week

Morgan played a key defensive role in leading the No. 13 Golden Knights to a 2–0 week in PSAC play with wins over Seton Hill and Indiana (Pa.). Morgan recorded a team-high five steals and two blocks, while also averaging 7.0 rebounds per game, as Gannon held opponents to 62.0 points per game and improved to 15–2 overall and 9–1 in PSAC play.

Frank averaged 19.3 points and 5.6 boards in a 2-1 week for the Raiders. He eclipsed the 20-point mark in both Raider victories, a 65-60 win over Kutztown on Wednesday and a 82-80 thriller against East Stroudsburg on Saturday. Against Kutztown, Frank finished with a game-high 23 points, scoring 14 in the second half. He was 8-of-15 from the field and 6-of-8 at the free-throw line. Against ESU, Frank scored 20 points on 7-of-15 from the field and 5-of-5 at the free-throw line. Frank added six rebounds and two assists. He paced the Raiders in scoring in both contests and has scored 20 or more points in 11 games this season.

Warren's active defense led Lock Haven to two wins in the PSAC East, totaling seven steals for the week. Warren had a game-high five steals in Lock Haven's 86-77 win over Millersville, in which the Bald Eagles forced 22 turnovers. Warren also grabbed two late-game steals in the 78-76 win over Mansfield.
