Gannon's Dorian Crosby national champion at 285 pounds, Pitt-Johnstown's Matt Sarbo runner-up at 149 to conclude NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship

NCAA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP - DAY 2

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -
Two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference wrestlers battled for a national title on Saturday night, with Pitt-Johnstowns Matt Sarbo at 149 pounds and Gannon's 285-pounder Dorian Crosby both advancing to the championship bout. Crosby, the No. 1 seed in his bracket, was able to get the victory, 4-1, over Nebraska-Kearney's No. 2 seed Crew Howard to end his season (and collegiate wrestling career) as a national champion.

Sarbo, the No. 4 seed who upset Grand Valley State's top-seeded Chris Donathan in the semis, 3-0, fell in the national title bout, 5-0, to No. 3 seed Cody Thompson from Colorado School of Mines.

Gannon as a team ended up ninth in the overall team standings with 49.5 points, with Pitt-Johnstown (37 points, 13th), Kutztown (17 points, 20th) also making it into the top 20 teams. 
 

NCAA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP - DAY 1

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -
Day 1 of the 2026 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship found a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference wrestlers advance to tomorrow's semifinals: Pitt-Johnstown's Matt Sarbo at 149 pounds and Gannon's Dorian Crosby in the 285-pound bracket. Sarbo, the No. 4 seed in the 149-pound bracket, earned a 16-5 major decision over Quincy's Sabian Russell in the round of 16, then added a 7-3 decision over No. 5 seed Rudy Lopez of Northern St. in the quarterfinals. He will face Grand Valley St. top seed Chris Donathan in the semifinals.

Crosby earned a 2-1 decision over UNC Pembroke's James Bankston in his first bout of the day, then added a 4-1 victory over Colorado Mesa's Tyler Doyle in the quarters. He will match up with Grand Valley St.'s Carter Blough, the No. 4 seed, in the semis.

Gannon is currently ranked 12th in the team standings with 20.5 points, followed by Pitt-Johnstown at 16th (13.0 points), Kutztown (24th, 7.0 points), and Millersville (tied for 39th with .5 points.)
 

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – After a busy day of competition at today's NCAA Division II Super Region 1 Championship, hosted by East Stroudsburg University, 28 wrestlers from PSAC institutions secured top-3 finishes in the brackets to advance to the upcoming 2026 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship.

The Gannon Golden Knights, led by nine of its wrestlers earning national qualification, topped the team standings with a total of 175 points, ahead of Kutztown's 129 and Pitt-Johnstown's 127.5 in second and third place, respectively.

Gannon's contingent included seven individual champions, while Kutztown and UPJ both claimed six qualifiers with one weight class champion. Seton Hill is sending four wrestlers to nationals, including runner-up at 125 pounds Jacob Houpt, while East Stroudsburg, Millersville, and Shippensburg will each send a single qualifier to the national meet.
