LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Softball Athletes of the Week. In the East, Bloomsburg's Allie Wenrich earned Athlete of the Week honors, while East Stroudsburg's Sarah Davenport was recognized as Pitcher of the Week. In the West, Slippery Rock's Maddie Cavenaugh and Edinboro's Cassidy Weller were named Co-Athletes, while Gannon's Miranda Biles was selected as Pitcher.

Wenrich dominated at the plate this week, tallying 10 hits, 10 RBIs, three home runs and a triple while batting .476. She also recorded seven runs on a .500 on-base percentage. She played a major part in Bloomsburg's victory in game two against Mansfield on Wednesday. She hit her first homer of the week to bring in three runs to extend the Huskies' lead 5-1. After Mansfield took back the lead 6-5, Wenrich swung the momentum back to Bloomsburg by earning an RBI single. This set up the Huskies' four-run inning to sweep the Mountaineers in the doubleheader. She ended the game with three hits on four at-bats, four RBIs, three runs and a home run. In game one against Shepherd, she tripled and gained her fifth RBI of the week on an RBI single with the bases loaded. She also had an outstanding slugging percentage of 1.000. She had her most astounding game versus Shippensburg in game two. She had three hits on four at-bats and recorded an RBI in every hit. She started the game by blasting the ball out of the park for two-run homer in the first inning. She extended the lead in the third inning by recording an RBI single. She then stepped to the plate with vicious intentions as she homered once more to end the game against the Raiders 9-4. Wenrich finished the game with three hits, five RBIs, two homers and two runs on an outstanding 2.500 slugging percentage.
Wenrich now leads the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in RBIs with 38 and is now tied for first in home runs with 12 with just three hard swings of the bat.

The ESU softball team went 3-1 in action this past weekend against conference rivals, Shippensburg and Shepherd. The Warriors split against the Raiders on Friday, winning the first game 2-1 in nine innings. Davenport recorded nine strikeouts, allowed just four hits and gave up one run. On Saturday, the Warriors shutout and swept the Rams. They earned a run-rule victory in the first game, winning 9-0 through five innings before taking the second game, 1-0.
In the first game against Shepherd on Saturday, she threw her third career and program’s fourth perfect game, striking out 12 of the 15 batters she faced. In the second game, she recorded six strikeouts and allowed just two hits. Davenport improved to 14-6 on the season after going 3-0 this past weekend. She totaled 27 strikeouts, gave up six hits and allowed just one run through 21.0 innings pitched, 0.33 ERA.

Cavenaugh led Slippery Rock to a 4-0 week after hitting .750 (9-for-12) with seven runs, four home runs, eight RBIs, four stolen bases and three walks. Cavenagh hit home runs in three of her four games this week, that included one go-ahead home run in the seventh inning against Edinboro and two leadoff home runs in the first inning against Gannon and the Fighting Scots. The freshman reached base at least twice in three out of four games this week. Also, Cavenaugh picked up at least two RBIs in each game this week but one, in which she still earned one RBI.

Weller was on fire at the plate hitting .500 as the Scots played eight PSAC games this week. She tallied 14 hits with eight going for extra bases including a pair of home runs. She was 4-for-8 with five RBI and four runs scored in the Scots doubleheader sweep of Cal.

Biles was dominant in the circle, going 2-0 with a 0.46 ERA across three appearances. She threw 15.1 innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out 15 and tossing two complete-game shutouts. Biles anchored a pitching staff that held opponents to just 12 earned runs over five games.
