LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Softball Athletes of the Week. In the East, Shippensburg's Reagan Bauman earned Athlete of the Week honors, while Shepherd's Madelayne Ruffner was recognized as Pitcher of the Week. In the West, IUP's Madison Pukula (Athlete) and Slippery Rock's Rachel Baker (Pitcher) were recognized.

In a 5-1 week for the Raiders that included a split with Shepherd and sweeps of Mansfield and Millersville, Bauman reached base in 13 of her 20 plate appearances on the week for a .650 on-base percentage and scored a team-high nine runs. She posted a .588 batting average by totaling 10 hits in 17 at-bats - she walked three times and did not strikeout at all. Of her 10 hits, six went for extra bases - four doubles and two triples. With her 18 total bases she slugged 1.059 over six games. Against the league's top pitcher Madelayne Ruffner, Bauman went 2-for-3 with a triple. She tripled in both games against Shepherd, and compiled five hits (three doubles) and five runs at Mansfield. She went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, and two runs scored in Game 2 against Millersville. Bauman leads the Raiders this season with a .421 batting average and 1.184 OPS - she has a .484 OBP and a .700 slugging percentage.

Ruffner posted a 2-0 mark with a pair of complete-game shutout victories. She fanned nine and walked one in a 3-0 win over #25 Shippensburg on Tuesday. She tied her Shepherd single-game mark with 19 strikeouts (two walks) in 10 innings in a 1-0 win over Kutztown on Friday.

Pikula went 8-for-16 with 10 RBI and a game-high of five RBI. She had four extra base hits, including two home runs. IUP went a perfect 4-0 this weekend.

Baker went 2-0 in her pair of starts this week for Slippery Rock. Baker picked up two complete-game shutout victories over California (Pa.) and Seton Hill. Against the Vulcans, Baker surrendered no runs on seven hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. In the victory against the Griffins, the freshman gave up no runs on four hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
