PSAC Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week - 1

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its first set of Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week for the 2026 season. From the East, Shepherd's Merritt Delk (Athlete of the Week) and Shippensburg's Cailin Spelman (Defensive Athlete of the Week) were selected. In the West both honorees were from Clarion, as Ciara DiMauro (Athlete) and Sage Sherk (Defensive) were selected.

Delk scored the game winning goal in a 3-1 win over West Virginia State in the season opener. She added two goals and an assist in a 3-0 triumph over Mansfield.

Spelman scored a goal in each game as the Raiders posted an unbeaten 1-0-1 record in the opening week of the season.Spelman scored SU's second goal in a 2-2 draw against West Virginia Wesleyan Thursday at home. The junior defender created space with a tidy turn on the edge of the box and lofted a curling attempt on goal that sailed into the top left corner of the net. She also scored the Raiders' second goal in a triumph at Lackawanna Saturday. She also earned a clean sheet and aided an SU defense that held the Falcons without a shot on goal in the 6-0 victory. Spelman's two goals doubled her career total (4).

Ciara DiMauro led the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 weekend and became the program's all-time leading points scorer, as Clarion picked up a 2-1 win over Ursuline and a 2-0 shutout over California (PA). In the win over the Arrows on Thursday, DiMauro tied the score at 1-1 in the second half, beating the goalkeeper on a penalty kick in the 58th minute. Fourteen minutes later the Golden Eagles scored the go-ahead goal on a corner kick. In the win over the Vulcans on Saturday, DiMauro had a goal and an assist, arcing a beautiful cross to Leah Deal for a header and the first goal of the game. Later in the second half she tacked on insurance, collecting a rebound off the woodwork and firing it past the goalkeeper for the goal that put her in sole possession of Clarion's all-time points scoring record.

Sherk helped the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 week to kick off the 2026 season, making six saves and recording one shutout with a 2-1 win over Ursuline and a 2-0 win over California (PA). The senior netminder helped secure the win over the Arrows on Thursday with a pair of saves, none bigger than a stop on a penalty kick in the 46th minute with the Golden Eagles trailing 1-0. The stop helped keep the game in striking distance, and Clarion scored twice down the stretch for the win. Sherk made four stops in the win over the Vulcans, her fifth career blanking.
