PSAC Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week - 3

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week honorees. In the West, Seton Hill's Catie Flohr was selected as Athlete of the Week while Clarion's Cara Vandeborne was named Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the East, East Stroudsburg's Jadyn Orava (Athlete) and Lock Haven's Olivia Taylor (Defensive) earned the honors.

Flohr led the Griffins to a pair of wins in the SHU Tourney over the weekend.  She finished the three matches with 61 kills and a .254 hitting percentage. She added 21 digs, six aces and five blocks.  Flohr posted a double-double of 25 kills and 11 digs versus WV Wesleyan.  
 


Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week

Vandeborne was dominant at the net at the Atlantic Region Crossover hosted by West Liberty and Wheeling, averaging 1.35 blocks per set over the course of four matches. Statistically the PSAC's top blocker so far this season, Vandeborne totaled 23 blocks in the four matches, including three solo blocks apiece against Fairmont State and West Liberty. She added five blocks apiece in the two matches on Saturday.

ESU defeated Holy Family on Tuesday before competing at the Seton Hill Tourney (2-1) last weekend. Orava was named to the SHU All-Tournament Team. She set a new school record in kills with 28 in the final match against Charleston. Through four matches she totaled 90 kills (.284 hitting percentage), five service aces, 33 digs, 5.0 total blocks, and 98.5 points. 
 


Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week

Taylor led The Haven to a 2-1 record at the Lock Haven Tournament, including victories over Virginia State and Jefferson. Taylor totaled 103 digs across three matches for an outstanding 11.44 digs-per-set average. She opened the weekend with 38 digs, four service aces, and five assists against Edinboro, then posted 20 digs and an ace in Lock Haven’s sweep of Virginia State. Taylor capped the tournament with a remarkable 45-dig effort in a five-set victory over Jefferson, adding 10 assists, two kills, and two aces. Her 45 digs against the Rams were the centerpiece of a gritty five-set win and helped Lock Haven secure its second victory of the weekend. Taylor continues to lead the PSAC in both total digs (231) and digs per set (6.42). Her 231 digs are 51 more than the conference’s next-highest total.
