PSAC Men’s Basketball Athletes of the Week – 8

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference chose this week’s men’s basketball athletes of the week. In the East, Shepherd’s Daniel McClain-Corley and Millersville’s Dylin Borden won the offensive and defensive awards, respectively, while IUP’s Shawndale Jones and Pitt-Johnstown’s John Paul Kromka were given the corresponding awards in the West.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference chose this week’s men’s basketball athletes of the week. McClain-Corley averaged 23.5 points in a 2-0 week for the Rams. He scored a career-high 32 points in Shepherd's 96-88 upset win over #14/20 East Stroudsburg on Wednesday. Shepherd gained its first win over a ranked opponent since 2019.

Dylin Borden made a big impact on the defensive end in Millersville's back-to-back road wins, totaling eight steals in 30 minutes of action. Against Gannon, with Millersville trailing by 12 with four minutes left, Borden entered the game and recorded two steals--both of which led to Millersville buckets. At Lock Haven, Borden recorded five steals in the first half and finished with a career-high six steals, helping Millersville score 14 points off turnovers and win back-to-back road games for the first time this season.

Jones averaged 27.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in two wins for the top-ranked IUP men's basketball team. He posted eight assists with six steals, shooting 42.5% from the floor and had 23 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals against Clarion. Jones followed that performance up with his first 30-point outing of the season against California (Pa.) where he notched 31 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

In two games, Kromka averaged 20.0 points, (16-25 FG), 10.5 rebounds (7.5 def. rebounds), 2.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.5 steals. On Wednesday, Kromka recorded 17 points (8-13 FG), 15 rebounds (10 def. rebs.), 1 assist, 2 blocks, 2 steals in 79-71 loss at Seton Hill. On the following Saturday, he then recorded a game-high of 23 points (8-12 FG, 7-7 FT), 6 rebounds (5 def. rebs.), 3 assists, and 1 steal in a 72-68 win over Slippery Rock.
