PSAC Week 6 Football Notes

QUICK HITS:

EDINBORO: The Scots rushed for 266 rushing yards in their 40-24 win over Mercyhurst and continue PSAC West play with a 12 p.m. kickoff at Erie County rival Gannon.

GANNON: The Gannon backfield was depleted due to injuries, but Donny Marcus picked up the slack. The transfer from Ball State ran for a career-high 186 yards on 20 carries. That included a 74-yard touchdown run, the tenth-longest run in team history.

SHEPHERD: Junior quarterback Seth Morgan completed 22-of-31 passes for 254 yards and a pair of scores to lead Shepherd to a 30-23 win over Shippensburg.

LOCK HAVEN: Lock Haven’s 38-31 win over Millersville was its first since 2016 and the victory snapped a 5-game losing streak to the Marauders.

WEST CHESTER: West Chester is coming off its first overtime game (a 24-21 win over Bloomsburg) since 2016 and its first OT win since 2010. 

SHIPPENSBURG: The Raiders freshman Sam Stoner made a positive impact in what was his first collegiate start at quarterback, converting 19-of-35 passing attempts for 272 yards and rushing for a pair of touchdowns. 

KUTZTOWN: Kutztown has a leg up in the race for the PSAC East title as the only team in Eastern Division league play without a loss after two weeks. The Golden Bears head to Bloomsburg next Saturday for a 2 p.m. kick.

BLOOMSBURG: The Huskies will honor the 2013 PSAC Championship Team and honor Brian Clarke’s jersey during their game this weekend.

SETON HILL: Musa Tama led the defense with 10 total tackles including a tackle for loss.  Quinton Posey finished with nine tackles.  Richard Johnson Jr, David Awuah and Ritchie McCormack each had eight tackles. 

CLARION: The Golden Eagle football team returns to Memorial Stadium to cap off the 70th annual Autumn Leaf Festival, when they host Seton Hill for Homecoming.

CALIFORNIA: The Vulcans travel to face rival IUP in the 14th Coal Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m.

IUP: IUP has gone 17-5 in October games during the tenure of head coach Paul Tortorella, dating back to 2017.

SLIPPERY ROCK: The Rock put up 485 yards and 42 points against IUP last week after the Crimson Hawks entered the game ranked No. 1 in the PSAC in total defense (249.0 yards per game) and scoring defense (14.2 points per game).

MERCYHURST: Adam Urena threw for 322 yards on 25 completions while adding a pair of touchdowns to his line. His 322 yards through the air is the third time this season the Chino Hills, Ca. native has eclipsed 300 yards.

MILLERSVILLE: Millersville’s Garrett Cox extended his streak of games with at least 2.0 tackles for loss to five. Cox leads the PSAC in tackles for loss with 11 ½.

EAST STROUDSBURG: ESU has the No. 1 rushing offense in the PSAC at a 177.2 YPG clip and returns home to Eiler-Martin Stadium on Sat., October 7th at 6:05 p.m. for Homecoming against Millersville.
