Branan, Casper, Anderson, Shippensburg Coaching Staff Receive Men’s Indoor Track & Field Major Awards

IUP's Kendall Branan was named PSAC Men's Track Athlete of the Year, West Chester's Ralph Casper earned Field Athlete of the Year, East Stroudsburg's Donavan Anderson was Freshman of the Year, and Shippensburg earned Coaching Staff of the Year

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference released this year’s major award winners for the 2022-23 Men’s Indoor Track & Field season, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
 
The awards are determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches. The top three finishers in each event at the PSAC Championships are recognized as all-conference performers. The list of all-conference performers is linked above.
 
IUP’s Kendall Branan was voted the PSAC Track Athlete of the Year after earning First Team All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. He also placed second in the 800m at the 2023 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in addition to anchoring IUP’s 4x400 to a second-place finish with a meet-best split of 48.4.
 
West Chester’s Ralph Casper received the PSAC Field Athlete of the Year award. He was an All-American and runner-up at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in the shot put with a throw of 64 feet 3 ¼ inches, which was both a school and conference record. He was also the PSAC champion in the event and was named the PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championship Field Athlete of the Meet.
 
Donavan Anderson of East Stroudsburg claims the PSAC Freshman of the Year award after PSAC meet finishes of first in the triple jump, second in the long jump, and eighth in the 60m dash. He was a NCAA qualifier in the long jump and triple jump, earning Second Team All-America honors in both events (ninth place in the long jump and 12th place in the triple jump.) Anderson also set East Stroudsburg school and freshman records in the long jump as well as a freshman record in the triple jump this season.
 
Shippensburg’s coaching staff, led by head coach Dave Osanitsch, was awarded the inaugural Coaching Staff of the Year award and guided Shippensburg to its 12th straight Indoor Track and Field conference title this season. The Raiders scored eight or more points in 10 of the 17 men’s events at the PSAC meet. Osanitsch was further honored with a third consecutive USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Men’s Indoor Head Coach of the Year honor (the eighth of his career.)
