LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced this week’s baseball athletes of the week. In the West, Gannon's Ian Hess was chosen as the Athlete of the Week and IUP's Jimmy Tooley was voted Pitcher of the Week. In the East, East Stroudsburg's Mike Kelly (Athlete of the Week) and Kutztown's Dominic Proietto (Pitcher of the Week) were selected.

Hess played in five games this past week, going 9-for-18 (.500) with five runs and eight RBIs, including multiple hits in three of five games. Ian had two doubles, a triple and two home runs for a slugging percentage of 1.056. He hit a three-run homer in game two vs. UPJ as Gannon rallied for a 6-5 win in eight innings after trailing 5-0 and added a two-run home run in the seventh inning of game three at UPJ on Sunday to give GU 5-3 lead in the seventh inning. Hess now has a school-record 32 career home runs and has moved into third in career RBIs with 118 and 11th in career runs with 101.

Tooley spun a one-hitter through five-and-two-thirds innings to earn his first win of the season against Clarion on March 26. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished the contest with 10 strikeouts, no earned runs, one hit allowed, and two walks.

In a 4-1 week, Kelly paced the Warriors offensively as the junior posted a .583 batting average, .684 on-base percentage and .583 slugging percentage. Kelly went 7-for-12 with six walks, six RBIs and seven runs scored as well as recording six stolen bases. The junior saved his best performance for the final game of the week as Kelly went 2-for-2 with four RBI to help ESU complete the sweep of Shippensburg.

Dominic Proietto stole the show on the bump Sunday afternoon, pitching a complete game shutout in a 1-0 victory over Lock Haven. The senior righty from Norristown, Pa. went seven innings, allowing only three hits, and striking out seven. It was the fifth complete game and second career shutout in Proietto's college career as the Golden Bears went 5-0 last week. He also racked up eight hits at the plate last week, including a no-doubt home run in the game following his complete game shutout.
