LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced the 2023 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Major Award winners on Thursday afternoon.
The awards are determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches. The top three finishers in each event at the 2023 PSAC Championships are recognized as all-conference performers. Full List Here
Edinboro’s Samuel Hartman was voted as the PSAC’s Track Athlete of the Year. He earned First Team All-America status with a fifth-place finish (time of 50.54) in the 400m hurdles at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He also won the event at the 2023 PSAC Championships and set a PSAC championship meet record with a 50.82 in the prelims.
West Chester’s Ralph Casper earned Field Athlete of the Year. Casper was the National Champion in the shot put at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships and also earned USTFCCCA All-America honors in the discus. He won the shot put and discus events at the 2023 PSAC Outdoor Championships and was named the PSAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet.
East Stroudsburg’s Donavan Anderson collects the Freshman of the Year award after a standout first season in the long jump. He became a First Team All-America honoree with an eighth-place finish in the event at the NCAA Championships, setting a school record with a jump of 7.63m. At the 2023 PSAC Championships, Anderson won the triple jump and claimed third place in the long jump.
The Shippensburg coaching staff was honored with the Coaching Staff of the Year award. The Raiders, led by head coach Dave Osanitsch, claimed its 14
th consecutive PSAC outdoor championship and added six event wins at the meet. The team’s depth led to 32 individual scoring performances as Shippensburg added another outdoor title—a PSAC-leading 30
th all-time—with a total of 176 points, 48 clear of second place in the standings.
