SACRAMENTO – Cross country runners from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference wrapped up their seasons on Saturday at the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships in Sacramento, Calif. at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.
In the women’s race, Slippery Rock’s Anna Igims earned All-America honors with a 29
th-place finish (time of 21:13.1) to lead all PSAC competitors. Igims becomes The Rock’s first All-American since the 2010 season. Her teammate Ruthie Hughes placed 119
th (time of 22:19.8, improving on her 257
th-place finish from last year) while Millersville’s Morgan Janiuk (140
th, 22:32.6), East Stroudsburg’s Daniella Napoli (147
th, 22:35.7), Edinboro’s Kate Szep (155
th, 22:42.3) also logged solid times. Slippery Rock as a team finished 27
th with 694 points, while ESU claimed 32
nd place with 936 points.
The entire Shippensburg Men’s team as well as California’s Jonathan Thrush competed, with the SU men earning 20
th place (out of 34) as a team with 533 points. Thrush finished in 98
th place with a time of 31:20.4, while Shippensburg runners in the top 150 included PSAC individual champion Garrett Quinan (51
st, 30:44.9), Aiden Gonder (113
th, 31:27.9), Tommy Crum (133
rd, 31:39.8), and Ryan Wolfe (146
th, 31:48.5).
