LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week. From the East, Shepherd's Joshua Petty and Bloomsburg's Kody Besser were selected. In the West, Pitt-Johnstown's Pau Cano and Slippery Rock's Alvey Kaufman, received the honor.

Cano had two goals, one assist, six shots, and three shots on goal in a 3-2 home win over California (PA) to open PSAC West-play on Wednesday. In a 1-1 home draw with Gannon on Saturday, Cano took one shot. He has helped Pitt-Johnstown get off to its best start in conference-play since joining the PSAC in 2013

Kaufman started in goal for both games in Slippery Rock's 1-1-0 week. Kaufman made six saves this week in games against Lock Haven University and Seton Hill University. Against Lock Haven, Kaufman made two saves in a 1-0 victory, earning him his second win of the season and first career shutout. Against Seton Hill, Kaufman made a career-high four saves in a 3-1 defeat.

Besser helped the Huskies to a 1-0-1 start in the first week of conference games. He was part of a squad that maintained shutouts against the No. 4 (West Chester) and No. 5 (East Stroudsburg) teams in the Atlantic Region, ranked by the United Soccer Coaches. Besser guided Bloomsburg defensively to a goalless draw against the Warriors on Wednesday, holding East Stroudsburg to just two shots on target. The senior defender led the Huskies to keep a Golden Rams squad averaging over two goals per game scoreless, mustering only three shots on target in 90 minutes played Saturday. Besser recorded an assist on the Huskies' second goal, his first point of the season, in the win over West Chester. As a marking defender, Besser held Maksym Komperda, who was tied for the conference lead in goals entering the week, without a shot attempt in Saturday's matchup.
