Gannon defeats Franklin Pierce, 2-1, to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship

THIRD ROUND RECAP

RINDGE, N.H - 
The No. 6 Gannon Golden Knights secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament with their 2-1 win over No. 2 Franklin Pierce. 

Gannon started the game strong when Sverre Orten, assisted by Per Kristian Lauvstad, found the back of the net in the 16th minute of the match. Franklin Pierce finally responded to the early Golden Knight goal in the 49th minute of the game to tie it up. Enzo Rekka secured Gannon's spot in the Elite Eight with a goal in the 77th minute of play. The Golden Knights also fought hard defensivley with goalkeeper Andre Moraes finishing the match with seven saves. 

Gannon will play No. 1 Southern New Hamphire in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament on Saturday, December 6 with a time still being determined. Complete bracket information can be found here.
 

SECOND ROUND RECAP

WALTHAM, Mass. –
 The No. 6 Gannon Golden Knights keep their season alive after a 2-1 win over No. 3 Bentley in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament on Sunday afternoon. 

After a slow start in the first half, the Golden Knights came back strong after halftime to score two times in 10 minutes. The first Gannon goal came in the 54th minute when Per Kristian Lauvstad found room to take a shot with assists from Enzo Rekka and Shota Toyama. With a now tied game, the Golden Knights were quick to take the lead. PSAC West Athlete of the Year Sverre Otren found the back of the net in the 64th minute off of a penalty kick. 

Gannon advances to the third round of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament and will play the winner of No. 2 Franklin Pierce versus No. 7 Wilmington (DE). Complete bracket information can be found here.
 

INDIANAPOLIS – Gannon University was selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship, the NCAA announced Monday evening.
 
The 2025 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship features 40 teams and begins on Friday, Nov. 21.
 
Gannon, which claimed its first-ever PSAC Championship in program history last Sunday, is the No. 6 seed in Super Region 1. The Golden Knights will travel to No. 3 seed Bentley in the first round.
