PSAC Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week - 1

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has announced the first round of women’s basketball athletes of the week. In the East, Millersville's Bryn Zentner and East Stroudsburg's Brooke Droege were selected. In the West, Clarion's Zoe Guice and Gannon's Kate Ratliff earned the honor.

Zentner played her first significant minutes as a starter for the Marauders and notched two double-doubles on the scoresheet. Through the first two games of the season, Zentner averages 16.5 PPG and 15.0 RPG, and has one block and three steals. In the opening game of the CIAA/PSAC Conference Challenge against Lincoln University (Pa.), Zentner shot 41.7% from the field with 16 points and 17 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive boards. Less than 24 hours later, against a strong Fayetteville State team, Zentner shot a red-hot 60.0% from the field with 17 points and 13 rebounds in a two-point loss. Through two games, the forward from Bloomsburg is carving out her spot in the Marauder offense and establishing her role in her second year at Millersville.

On Saturday against Bowie State, Droege had 17 points, 6-14 FG, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 36 minutes. On Sunday against Shaw, she finshed with 18 points, 8-19 FG, 2-4 3PT, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 6 steals, 38 minutes
 



Western Division Athlete of the Week

Guice led the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins in their season-opening tipoff tournament at home, as Clarion beat Livingstone 96-68 and Bluefield State 66-63 at Tippin Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday. The sophomore point guard averaged 19.0 points per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the field. She also racked up eight assists and 11 steals in the wins over the Blue Bears and the Big Blue. In the win over Livingstone on Friday she scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, and also recorded six steals, five assists and four rebounds in just 21:29 of playing time. In the much tighter game against Bluefield State she had 20 points and five steals, in a game where the Golden Eagles rallied from an eight-point fourth quarter deficit.

During the start of season Gannon hosted the D2 CCA Tip-Off Classic and won two of three. Opened with 66-51 win over No. 2 Union and following 60-58 loss to Northern Michigan defeated 4th-ranked North Georgia 70-55. Over five games in the past two weeks, Ratliff finished with seven steals, six blocks, and 21 total rebounds. She also scored 63 points and had 15 assists.
