LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Major Award winners for the 2025 men’s cross country season on Thursday afternoon. Shippensburg’s Garrett Quinan was selected as Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive season, while Lock Haven’s Brayden Frair earned Freshman of the Year honors. Shippensburg’s coach Steve Spence also won his third consecutive Coach of the Year Award after guiding the Raiders to a third straight first-place finish at this year’s 2025 PSAC Championship Meet.
All awards were determined by a vote of the conference’s head coaches.
Quinan, a senior, put together another impressive year in 2025, finishing as the runner-up by only 1.2 seconds at the PSAC Championship. He rode that momentum into the postseason, earning third place in the NCAA Atlantic Regional to qualify for the national meet. At the NCAA Championship he crossed the finish line in 43
rd place, the highest finisher in the PSAC.
Freshman of the Year Frair opened the season with a 14
th place finish at the Dolan Duals 6k and was fifth later in the fall at the Highlander Invitational. He crossed the finish line in seventh at the PSAC meet, where he was the fastest freshman, and was 52
nd at the NCAA Atlantic Regional.
Coach of the Year Spence led the Shippensburg men’s cross country team to its third consecutive PSAC team title, with four runners placing in the top 10 of that meet. The team was named the NCAA Atlantic Region Champion and four runners finished the top 15, to earn automatic qualification for the national meet – where the team finished in 17
th place, an improvement from last year’s 20
th-place mark.
The remainder of the All-Conference honorees were earned by placement at the 2025 PSAC Championships in October and are listed in full below:
