LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its fifth set of Baseball Athletes of the Week. In the East, Bloomsburg's Greg Cristino (Athlete of the Week) and West Chester's Nick Noga (Pitcher of the Week) were selected. In the West, California's Nathan Meeks (Athlete) and Seton Hill's Ian Korn (Pitcher) earned the honors.
Eastern Division Athlete of the Week
Greg Cristino
Bloomsburg
First Baseman
Senior
Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial
Cristino had a fantastic week for the Huskies, going 11-for-24 (.458) from the plate with a team leading 14 RBIs. The senior totaled 21 total bases, two home runs and four doubles and a .875 slugging percentage while only striking out once in 26 plate appearances. Cristino tallied back to back three-hit games in Bloomsburg's 10-5 victory over Lock Haven and 16-5 win over IUP. Against IUP he posted six RBIs and three runs while falling a triple short of the cycle. In the second game of the UPJ series, the Haddonfield-native recorded his third three-hit game of the week with a pair of doubles in a 12-6 victory. Cristino currently leads the conference in hits (27) and doubles (8) while sitting fifth in batting average (.435), seventh in RBIs (18) and slugging percentage (.710).
Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week
Nick Noga
West Chester
Pitcher
Junior
Avondale, Pa. / Avon Grove
Noga tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout on Friday to help West Chester in its four-game sweep of Queens (N.Y.) over the weekend. Noga struck out six and, after allowing a hit in the second inning, carried a one-hit shutout until there were two outs in the seventh. Queens got its second and final hit of the day when the Knights were down to their last out before working a walk for the lone multi-base runner inning vs Noga in his dominant complete-game on Friday. Perhaps even more impressively, the junior used just 77 pitches as he faced just two batters over the minimum for his first victory of the young season.
Western Division Athlete of the Week
Nathan Meeks
California
Third Base
Senior
New Castle, Pa. / Union
Meeks registered a .600 on-base percentage last week, as the Vulcans won three games to extend their winning streak to six games. He opened the week by posting one hit, two RBI and two runs scored on Wednesday night in a 6-0 victory against Davis & Elkins. Meeks reached on a single and walk in Game 1 on Saturday, as Cal rallied for a 6-5 extra-inning victory over Mansfield. The 6-foot-0 senior reached base in all three plate appearances (two singles, walk) and scored three runs in a 4-0 win versus the Mountaineers in Game 2.
