Stover, Whitehead Jr. headline 2024-25 PSAC Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams and Major Awards

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has announced the 2024-25 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners.

The All-Conference teams and Major Awards are determined by votes from the conference’s head coaches. Voting was concluded after the regular season and prior to the beginning of the PSAC tournament.

EAST

Millersville’s Drew Stover was voted PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year. The senior ranked seventh in the conference in scoring average (17.5 points per game), ninth in rebound (7.2 per game), second in field goal percentage (.669), and tied for first in blocks per game (1.9).

A pair of East Stroudsburg Warriors earned the remaining Major Awards in the East, with Cam Young earning Defensive Player of the Year and Evan Morton named Freshman of the Year. Young led the conference in steals with 2.7 per game and helped ESU rank second-best in the conference in turnover margin (4.18). Morton started 14 games and averaged 13.6 points per game as a freshman, including 43 three-pointers, 71 assists, and 26 steals.

West Chester head coach Damien Blair was awarded with Eastern Division Coach of the Year after finishing the regular season 23-5 overall (18-3 PSAC) and securing the East’s top seed – just one year after finishing as the fourth seed with an overall record of 19-11. Blair also becomes the first-ever male to win a PSAC Basketball Coach of the Year award after collecting a PSAC Major Award as a player. Blair was named PSAC East Athlete of the Year in 1994 and 1995 and was named East Rookie of the Year in 1992.

West

California’s Donald Whitehead Jr. was voted PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Year after finishing second in the PSAC in scoring average at 19.9 points per game. His 4.8 assists per game were third-most in the conference while his assist/turnover ratio of 2.0 ranks him fourth. He also led the entire PSAC in minutes played per game at 36.4.

Edinboro’s Cenker Evran earned Defensive Player of the Year honors after leading the PSAC in rebounding (12.6 per game), which also is second-most in all of Division II. Evran also added 1.1 blocks per game (ninth-best in the conference) while also scoring 14.9 points per game to average a double-double.

IUP’s Kymani Merraro is the 2024-25 Western Division Freshman of the Year after starting every game for the Crimson Hawks, averaging 15.2 points per game (16th-best in the PSAC), 4.5 assists (fourth-most), and totaled 37 steals in the regular season.

Edinboro head coach Justin Jennings was named Western Division Coach of the Year after improving the Fighting Scots by a large margin in 2024-25. The team earned the No. 3 seed in the West with an overall record of 15-13 (11-9 PSAC), just a year after finishing out of the PSAC postseason with a 7-21 overall record and a 6-16 conference mark. Jennings guided the Scots to 78.6 points per game (sixth-most in the conference) while the team’s 73.6 points allowed were also the sixth-best mark.
