Igims, Harnett, Long, Slippery Rock coaching staff collect 2024-25 Women’s Indoor Track & Field Major Awards

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Women’s Indoor Track & Field Major Award winners for the 2024-25 season.
 
The awards are determined by a vote of the conference’s head coaches. The top three finishers in each event at the PSAC Championships are recognized as All-Conference performers. That list is linked above.
 
Track Athlete of the Year: Anna Igims, Slippery Rock
Field Athlete of the Year: Shannon Harnett, East Stroudsburg
Freshman of the Year: Jianna Long, Slippery Rock
Coaching Staff of the Year: Slippery Rock
 
Anna Igims of Slippery Rock, a graduate student, was voted the 2024-25 Track Athlete of the Year, earning the honor for the second consecutive season . She was the PSAC champion in the mile and the 3,000m in addition to anchoring The Rock’s champion Distance Medley Relay. She hit an NCAA provisional standard in the 5,000m, qualifying for the NCAA meet where she finished 17th. She also hit provisional standards in the mile and 3,000m.
 
East Stroudsburg sophomore Shannon Harnett was selected as the 2024-25 Field Athlete of the Year after finishing as PSAC champion in the triple jump, runner-up in the high jump, and third in the long jump. She was named PSAC Field Athlete of the Meet and scored 24 points to help ESU finish third in the overall team standings. She was an All-Region honoree in the high jump and triple jump, ranking No. 3 in the region in those events. She was ranked in the top 30 in Division II in the triple jump and was the Warriors’ first champion in the event since 2020.
 
The 2024-25 Freshman of the Year award went to Slippery Rock’s Jianna Long. She was the PSAC champion in the 400m with a time of 57.77 and contributed to The Rock’s fourth-place finish in the 4x400m relay. Her time of 56.60 that she ran earlier in the season was an NCAA provisional standard.

The Coaching Staff of the Year award was given to Slippery Rock University. This year’s staff led The Rock to its eighth overall PSAC championship and second in a row. The staff also guided 11 female student-athletes to USTFCCCA All-Region honors.
