2024-25 PSAC Women's Tennis All-Conference Teams and Major Awards: Beladova, Balaguer Brau named Athletes of the Year

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced the PSAC Women’s Tennis All-Conference teams and Major Award winners for the 2024-25 season on Friday afternoon.

Major Award winners in the Eastern Division are all from East Stroudsburg and include Marketa Beladova as Athlete of the Year, Ariel Kelsick as Freshman of the Year, and head coach Troy Haas as Coach of the Year.

In the Western Division, Slippery Rock’s Amaia Balaguer Brau is Athlete of the Year for the second straight season while The Rock’s Alissia Kivi was voted Freshman of the Year.  The 2024-25 Coach of the Year is IUP’s Andrew McGlashen, also for the second consecutive year.

All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners are determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

EASTERN DIVISION

East Stroudsburg’s Marketa Beladova earns the Athlete of the Year award in the Eastern Division after an unbeaten PSAC campaign (6-0 in mandated matches, 8-0 against all conference opponents) and was 16-2 at No. 1 singles overall, including a 10-match win streak to conclude the season.

The Warriors’ Ariel Kelsick is the Freshman of the Year after a debut season in which she was 5-1 in mandated PSAC matches, 7-1 against all PSAC opponents, and 20-9 overall. She broke the ESU program record for singles wins in a season and had a 14-match win streak throughout March and April.

ESU’s Troy Haas collects the Coach of the Year honor in just his second season with the Warriors. He guided the team to an 18-7 overall record (5-1 in PSAC East play) and helped the Warriors clinch a PSAC championship semifinal berth for the first time in 45 years.

WESTERN DIVISION

Slippery Rock’s Amaia Balaguer Brau was voted the West’s Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season. She once again played out of the No. 1 flight and accrued a 24-8 overall regular season singles record and 16-3 doubles record playing with partner Tina Slovak. Brau was ranked as high as No. 7 in Division II during the season and won the ITA Regional in the Fall.

Also from Slippery Rock, Alissia Kivi was named Freshman of the Year. She played out of the No. 2 flight for The Rock and in the regular season tallied a 5-1 record in mandated PSAC West matches, an 8-2 record in all PSAC matches, and a 19-6 overall singles record. She partnered with Nicole Kempton (the PSAC Freshman of the Year winner from 2024) at No. 1 singles and tallied a 22-5 overall record.

IUP head coach Andrew McGlashen was named Coach of the Year for the second straight season after leading the team to its fifth consecutive PSAC Women’s Tennis Team Championship. The Crimson Hawks went unbeaten at 6-0 in mandated PSAC Western Division play.
