LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its first set of Baseball Athletes of the Week, encompassing every game played so far in the 2026 season. In the East, Shippensburg's Evan Shoffler (Athlete of the Week) and Millersville's Joe Morrissey (Pitcher of the Week) were selected. In the West, the Clarion duo of Randy Carlo (Athlete) and Zach Kelly (Pitcher) earned the honors.

Shoffler, making his debut at the top of the SU lineup, posted a .546 batting average and .642 on base percentage in the Raiders' three game series sweep of St. Michaels this week. The SU shortstop went 6-for-11 at the plate, totaling seven runs scored, five RBIs, three steals and three walks. Shoffler had multi-hit efforts in all three games. He was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, and followed that up with a three-run, three-RBI effort in the nightcap – an outing that included his first two collegiate home runs.

Morrissey pitched 6 ? innings in relief across two appearances to start the season, allowing one run and two walks compared to seven strikeouts. He pitched the final four innings of the first combined no-hitter in Millersville history on Friday, Feb. 13. He allowed just one base runner on a walk while pitching four no-hit innings with seven strikeouts. He picked up the save after starter Alex Kuehn pitched five innings.

Carlo was dominant at the plate in Clarion's season-opening doubleheader sweep of Central Penn on Saturday. The senior third baseman went 4-of-7 at the dish over the course of two games with two home runs, two doubles and seven RBI, giving him an absurd slash line of .571/.700/1.714 and an OPS of 2.414. Carlo also drew three walks in those two games, including an intentional walk in the first game as the Knights refused to pitch to him further.

Kelly had a strong debut in a Golden Eagle uniform on Saturday, starting the season opener and throwing four innings of one-run ball against Central Penn. The one run allowed was unearned, and Kelly finished his stint having allowed five hits and one walk, while striking out three.
