PSAC Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week - 3

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its third set of Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week. In the East, East Stroudsburg's Paige Moreland and Kutztown's Katie Yocum were named Co-Athletes of the Week while West Chester's Morgan Koons earned Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the West, Lock Haven's Gabby Gunnip (Athlete) and Slippery Rock's Reagan Richeson (Defensive) were recognized.

Moreland had a day for the record books against No. 14 Adelphi. The junior attacker tied the ESU program single-game record (since 2004) for the most points in a game, finishing with 11. Her five goals and six assists set new career highs in goals, assists, and points in a game. Additionally, she placed five of her six shot attempts on target, netting each one that was on goal. She now joins her teammate Ariana Tucci and PSAC 75th Anniversary honoree Emily Mitarotonda with 11-point performances, as she helped lead ESU to its most goals in a game and largest margin of victory over a ranked opponent in program history.

Yocum put together a historic week for nationally-ranked Kutztown, leading the Golden Bears to a pair of victories while etching her name in the program record books. Yocum tied Kutztown's single-game goal record with eight tallies in a 21-15 victory over No. 22 Saint Anselm. The senior wasn't done there, following up with a six-goal performance in a 19-8 win over Bentley to cap the week. Across the two games, Yocum totaled 14 goals and 14 points while dominating the draw circle with eight draw controls. The senior also contributed defensively, collecting four ground balls and forcing a turnover, showcasing her complete two-way game in Kutztown's successful spring break road trip.

Koons backstopped West Chester to a pair of road wins last week defeating Millersville in the middle of the week and topping No. 9 Pace on the weekend. Koons got the win in both contests, going the distance in each. She made 18 saves and picked up four ground balls while facing a total of 56 shots - 42 of those on goal - in the two wins. She was instrumental against Pace, making five saves in the opening quarter when the Setters controlled the draws and took 12 shots. Koons made five saves in the fourth quarter at Millersville to keep the Marauders at bay in the conference opener for both schools.

Gunnip continued her strong start to the season with five goals and two draw controls on Wednesday vs. Shippensburg. Gunnip added six more points on Saturday with two goals and four assists in a 12-8 win over Jefferson. Gunnip also caused a turnover and won a draw control on Saturday.

Richeson paced The Rock on both offense and defense in a dominant 19-4 win on the road at D'Youville in SRU's only game last week. She scored four goals on attack, but also led the team with five caused turnovers and picked up four ground balls. She scored on all four of her shots in the game.
