PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week – 1

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference released its first set of Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. For the women, California's Loreena Manser and Bloomsburg's Abby Parise were selected as Co-Track Athletes of the Week while California's Alice Etienne (Field) was also honored. For the men, Lock Haven's Josiah Schans (Track) and Shippensburg's Gian Greggo (Field) were recognized.

Manser reached the NCAA provisional standard in the 200-meter dash and won a pair of individual events, as California started the outdoor campaign by hosting the Early Bird Invitational on Saturday. She claimed the victory in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 23.96 seconds, which is eighth-fastest in the country this spring. Manser also established a personal record by winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.84 seconds. Additionally, Manser qualified for the PSAC Championships in the long jump with a distance of 5.70 meters in the long jump (18-8.5 feet) – the second-best mark in the PSAC.

Parise turned in a record-setting performance at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, delivering standout results across multiple events against a deep Division I and II field.

By the Numbers:

  • 400m Hurdles: 4th place – 1:03.51 (5 team points) – Bloomsburg school record; #1 in PSAC
  • 100m Hurdles (Prelims): School-record time 14.57 (new Bloomsburg program record); #1 in PSAC 14.73 finals (7th)
  • Long Jump: 13th place – 5.51m; #3 in PSAC

Parise's performance was highlighted by breaking two program records in the same meet, establishing new standards in both the short and long hurdle events. Her fourth-place finish in the 400m hurdles came against a highly competitive field and resulted in a scoring performance for the Huskies.

Etienne broke a pair of school records and reached NCAA provisional marks in both the triple jump and long jump, as the Vulcans opened the outdoor season by hosting the Early Bird Invitational on Saturday. Etienne won the long lump with a distance of 5.94 meters (19-6.0 feet) to eclipse the previous school record held since 2013. She ranks seventh on the national performance list in the event. The 5-foot-5 senior also posted a mark of 12.16 meters (39-10.75 feet) while winning the triple jump, surpassing the previous school-best mark set at the 2018 PSAC Championships. Etienne sits fourth on the national list in the triple jump.

Schans set a new Lock Haven event record in the 110m Hurdles by finishing in a blazing time of 14.20. The time was an NCAA Provisional mark along with a PSAC Qualifier. Schans also earned a PSAC qualifier in the 400m Hurdles by finishing in 56.27.

Greggo, a national qualifier indoors this season in the shot put, began his outdoor season with a personal best in the shot put of 57-11 (17.65m) that stands as the No. 2 mark all-time in SU history and is an NCAA provisional qualifier that ranks third nationally in Division II. He won both the shot put and the hammer throw (PSAC qualifier of 168-4 (51.32m), No. 3 in PSAC thus far this season) at the Keystone Challenge on Saturday.
