LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Major Award winners for the 2025-26 Men’s Swimming season. The top three finishers in each event at the 2026 PSAC Championships were recognized as All-Conference performers. A complete list of those honorees is linked above.
The Major Awards are determined by a vote of the conference’s head coaches.
Men's Swimming Athlete of the Year – Paul Demesy, West Chester
Men's Swimming Freshman of the Year – Martí Rosell Díez, West Chester
Men's Swimming Coach of the Year – Steve Mazurek, West Chester
West Chester’s Paul Demesy earns his fourth career PSAC Men’s Swimming Major Award with his third consecutive Athlete of the Year honor. He was also named PSAC Freshman of the Year in 2022-23. Demesy earned two NCAA All-American Honors, one in 1,000 freestyle and one in the mile, finishing fourth in both events. He set new PSAC records in both events at that meet, with a 15:03 in the mile and a 8:58 in the 1,000 free. In addition to the All-America honors for those two events, he was also named Honorable Mention All-America in the 500 freestyle. At the 2026 PSAC Championships, Demesy won two individual freestyle events (1,000, and mile), was runner-up in the 500 freestyle, and placed third in the 200 freestyle.
Another West Chester Golden Ram, Martí Rosell Díez, was named Freshman of the Year. In his first season, Rosell Díez qualified in four events for the NCAA Championship. He finished the meet with one NCAA All-American performance in the 500 freestyle (eighth) and two Honorable Mention All-American performances in the 1,000 freestyle (12
th) and the mile (13
th). At the PSAC Championship meet, Rosell Díez was a two-time individual champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle, a part of the Golden Rams' champion 800 free relay, and runner-up in the 1,000 freestyle and the 400 free relay.
West Chester head coach Steve Mazurek was named PSAC Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year and the fifth time in his career after leading the Golden Rams to the program’s 38
th overall PSAC championship and 27
th in 28 years. WCU topped the team standings with 1050 points and finished nearly 500 points clear of the field.
