LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Major Award winners for the 2024-25 Men’s Swimming season. The top three finishers in each event at the 2025 PSAC Championships were recognized as All-Conference performers. A complete list of those honorees is linked above.
The Major Awards are determined by a vote of the conference’s head coaches.
Men's Swimming Athlete of the Year – Paul Demesy, West Chester
Men's Swimming Freshman of the Year – Christian Henry, West Chester
Men's Swimming Coach of the Year – Steve Mazurek, West Chester
West Chester’s Paul Demesy earns his third career PSAC Men’s Swimming Major Award with his second consecutive Athlete of the Year honor. He was also named PSAC Freshman of the year in 2022-23. He was the NCAA Division II runner-up in the 1,650 freestyle and also placed fourth in the 1,000 freestyle at the national meet. He set new PSAC records in both events at that meet, with a 15:01 in the 1,650 free and a 9:04 in the 1,000 free. In addition to the All-America honors for those two events, he was also named Honorable Mention All-America in the 500 freestyle. At the 2025 PSAC Championships, Demesy won three individual freestyle events (the 500, 1,000, and 1,650), was part of the champion 800 free relay team, and finished fourth in the 200 free.
Another West Chester Golden Ram, Christian Henry, was named Freshman of the Year. He was a four-time “A” finalist at the 2025 PSAC Championships, earning fourth place in the 400 IM, sixth place in the 200 IM, and eighth place in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
West Chester head coach Steve Mazurek was named PSAC Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career after leading the Golden Rams to the program’s 37
th overall PSAC championship and 26
th in 27 years. WCU topped the team standings with 960 points and finished nearly 400 points clear of the field.
