PSAC Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week - 8

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its third set of Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week. In the East, East Stroudsburg's Ariana Tucci was named Athlete of the Week while Kutztown's Summer Davis earned Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the West, Lock Haven's Gabby Gunnip (Athlete) and IUP's Rachel Knight (Defensive) were recognized.

Tucci was unstoppable in ESU's wins over Bloomsburg and Millersville last week, leading ESU to its record-breaking 13th- and 14th-straight wins. Tucci finished the week with identical five-goal, two-assist stat lines in each game, recording 14 points between the wins. She accounted for her offense efficiently, scoring on 10 of her 15 shot attempts. She improved to second in the conference in goals (49) and points (70), only trailing her teammate Sadie Kauffman in both categories. She's been a catalyst for ESU's perfect season so far, as the Warriors are tied for the 11th-longest winning streak in PSAC history and jumped to No. 5 in the latest IWLCA rankings.

Davis put together a historic week for No. 15 Kutztown, headlined by a record-breaking performance in the Golden Bears' 16-5 victory over Shippensburg. Davis recorded a career-high seven caused turnovers (tied for fourth-most in a single game in program history) to move into second place all-time at Kutztown with 138 career caused turnovers. The senior also collected five ground balls, tied for the game high, as the Bears dominated defensively and held Shippensburg scoreless in the fourth quarter. In Kutztown's matchup against No. 11 West Chester, Davis added two caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Gunnip was outstanding in Lock Haven's 2-0 week as she totaled 17 points. Gunnip notched a game-high 10 points in a 16-14 road win vs. Roberts Wesleyan by scoring five goals and dishing out five assists. Gunnip added another four goals and three assists in a 17-10 win at Edinboro.

Knight finished the week with seven caused turnovers, seven ground balls against Seton Hill. Currently she is 3rd in the conference in caused turnovers and 6th in ground balls. She was marked against their top attacker and limited to only two points, while she has been averaging five plus points a game.
