PSAC Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week - 7

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its third set of Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week. In the East, West Chester's Sydney Wasdick was named Athlete of the Week while East Stroudsburg's Alexis Neuman earned Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the West, the Slippery Rock duo of Grace Rotter (Athlete) and Paige Jenkins (Defensive) were recognized.

Wasdick scored eight goals and registered nine points in two wins last week over Shippensburg and Millersville. Wasdick recorded three ground balls, caused four turnovers and scooped up nine draw controls in addition to scoring her eight goals on 12 shots on goal. Her four consecutive goals against Shippensburg at the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth turned a 15-8 lead into a 19-8 advantage that salted away the contest.

Neumen was one of the Warriors’ most impactful players in the midfield and defensive end in their 19-9 win over No. 16 Kutztown. She set a career-high in caused turnovers, forcing four to hold the Golden Bears to single-digit goals while fueling ESU’s transition attack. On top of her defensive persistence, she secured two ground balls and draw controls each. Her play on Saturday and all season has been a pivotal factor in the Warriors’ 12-game winning streak, the longest in program history to start a year. She becomes the fifth different Warrior this season to be named a PSAC East Athlete or Defensive Athlete of the Week, joining Sadie Kauffman, Paige Moreland, Abby Simonetti, and Molly Atwell.

Rotter led Slippery Rock to another 2-0 week with a pair of convincing wins over No. 22 Seton Hill and Lock Haven. She outscored Seton Hill on her own with six goals and one assist in The Rock's 10-5 win over the Griffins and followed that up with a hat trick in a 20-5 win over Lock Haven. Over the two games, she also grabbed five draw controls, three ground balls and caused one turnover to go along with nine goals and 10 points on the week.

Jenkins led the No. 1 ranked defense in the country to a pair of wins last week with a 10-5 victory over No. 22 Seton Hill and a 20-5 win over Lock Haven as SRU stayed perfect on the year. She finished the week with seven caused turnovers, 13 ground balls and six draw controls. In the process, she tied the all-time SRU career record with 101 caused turnovers. Jenkins was particularly dominant in the 20-5 win over Lock Haven, where she caused five turnovers, picked up a career-high nine ground balls and snagged four draw controls.
