LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week. In the East, East Stroudsburg's Sadie Kauffman was named Athlete of the Week while her teammate Abby Simonetti earned Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the West, Lock Haven's Gabby Gunnip (Athlete) and Slippery Rock's Paige Jenkins (Defensive) were recognized.

Kauffman dominated again in the penultimate week of the regular season, leading ESU to two wins over Shippensburg and Shepherd. Against the Raiders, she tied her career-high with eight goals, adding two assists for her third 10-point game of the season. Standing out on the box score even more than her eight goals, though, were her 14 draw controls. Kauffman recorded the most draw controls in a game since at least 2013 in program history, accounting for 14 of ESU’s 19 as a team. In Saturday’s win at Shepherd, she helped ESU take care of business against the Rams with four goals and another four draw controls. With her fifth PSAC East Athlete of the Week honor this season, Kauffman has now set the single-season program record for ESU, totaling nine in her first two seasons.

Simonetti had a strong week in net for ESU in its two victories against Shippensburg and Shepherd, playing the majority of each game and earning two wins. She made nine stops against the Raiders and 11 at Shepherd, posting a .741 save percentage on the week. She secured three ground balls versus Shippensburg, picking up one more and causing a turnover against the Rams.

Gunnip was the Bald Eagles' leading point scorer once again as she totaled 12 and picked up four ground balls on the week. Gunnip scored three goals, dished out an assist and picked up three ground balls in Lock Haven's 13-6 win over #22 Seton Hill. Gunnip followed that performance with five goals, three assists and a ground ball in a dominant 19-6 win over Gannon.

Jenkins led Slippery Rock to another 2-0 week with a 24-2 win over Edinboro and a 17-7 win over IUP. She finished the week with nine caused turnovers, 11 ground balls and four draw controls, which included a dominant showing against IUP with six caused turnovers, eight ground balls and two draw controls in that game alone. Her nine caused turnovers on the week brings her to 48 for the season, establishing a new single-season record at SRU. Jenkins currently leads all players in the PSAC in both caused turnovers (48) and ground balls (53).
