PSAC Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week - 10

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its last set of Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week. In the East, Kutztown's Katie Yocum was named Athlete of the Week while her teammate Summer Davis earned Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the West, the Slippery Rock duo of Grace Rotter (Athlete) and Lily Ventresca (Defensive) were recognized.

Senior attacker Katie Yocum capped her regular season with a historic week, scoring 12 goals and 13 points to lead No. 15 Kutztown to a pair of victories and the third-most single-season wins in program history. Yocum recorded five goals and one assist in the Golden Bears' 20-5 victory over Bloomsburg before exploding for seven goals on Senior Day in a 20-3 win over Shepherd. The week was punctuated by two career milestones: Yocum reached both 100 career goals and 100 career points, cementing her place in Kutztown's record books. Beyond her offensive dominance, Yocum contributed five ground balls, two caused turnovers, and a draw control across the two games. The senior's stellar season has her sitting third in the PSAC in goals per game with 59 goals—third-most in a single season at Kutztown—and 66 points, seventh-most in a single season in program history. Yocum's 12-goal week helped propel the Golden Bears to 12 wins and a berth in the PSAC quarterfinals.

Senior defender Davis put together a historic week for No. 15 Kutztown, moving within two caused turnover of tying the program's all-time record. Davis recorded a career-high eight caused turnovers (tied for third-most in a single game in Kutztown history) in the Golden Bears' 20-5 victory over Bloomsburg. She also collected six ground balls and four draw controls in the dominant performance. In Kutztown's 20-3 Senior Day win over Shepherd, Davis controlled the draw circle with seven draw controls while adding two caused turnovers and two ground balls. The week pushed Davis to 157 career caused turnovers, just two shy of tying the program record of 159. On the season, Davis has compiled 50 caused turnovers (third-most in a single season at Kutztown) and 50 ground balls. The senior currently ranks second in the PSAC in caused turnovers per game and fifth in ground balls per game, anchoring a defense that helped the Golden Bears reach the third-most single-season wins in program history and advance to the PSAC quarterfinals.

Rotter led Slippery Rock to a 2-0 week to cap the first undefeated season in program history after SRU posted road wins at No. 22 Seton Hill and at Lock Haven. She finished the week with 13 points on nine goals and four assists to go along with four caused turnovers, two ground balls and one draw control. She tallied three goals and two assists in a 10-6 win at Seton Hill and followed that up with six goals and two assists in a 19-3 win at Lock Haven. She also surpassed 100 goals at SRU in the game at Lock Haven and reached 50 goals in a single-season for the second year in a row.

Ventresca went 2-0 in goal last week and tied her own SRU career record for goalie wins in a single-season by improving to 16-0 on the year. She made nine saves and grabbed two ground balls in a 10-6 road win at No. 22 Seton Hill and then made five saves and grabbed two ground balls while allowing just three goals in a 19-3 win at Lock Haven, finishing the week with 14 saves. Ventresca leads all goalies in Division II this year with a 4.88 goals against average while backstopping the top-ranked scoring defense in the nation.
