PSAC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week - 3

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Field Hockey Athletes of the Week. Kutztown's Ellie Myers was selected as Athlete of the Week while another Golden Bear, Lorelai Lehenky, was recognized as the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Myers continued her scoring prowess last week and netted goals in both games for No. 2 Kutztown. Out of her PSAC-leading eight goals, none has been bigger so far this season than the one she scored in a 1-0 victory over No. 1 Shippensburg last Wednesday to defeat the reigning PSAC and NCAA champion Raiders. Last Saturday, Myers also found the back of the net in a win at Mansfield to keep the Golden Bears undefeated to start the year at 7-0.

Lehenky did her part to keep No. 2 Kutztown undefeated this season at 7-0. Lehenky started and earned the win in both of KU's games last week, two shutouts. In a 1-0 victory over No. 1 Shippensburg last Wednesday night, Lehenky tied a season-high with three saves, including two crucial ones off penalty corners in the fourth quarter to earn her first shutout on the year. Last Saturday against Mansfield, Lehenky started and played the first 44:42 before being subbed out, but earned the win in a 5-0 game. Lehenky leads the PSAC in goals against average (0.00) and save percentage (1.000) and has not allowed a goal all season.
