PSAC Men's Basketball Athletes of the Week - 9

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has announced its Men’s Basketball Athletes of the Week. In the West,California's KJ McClurg (Athlete of the Week) and IUP's Ethan Porterfield (Defensive Athlete) were selected. In the East, it was an East Stroudsburg sweep with Lakeem McAliley (Athlete) and Jaelen McGlone (Defense) earning the honors.

McClurg averaged 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game last week, as the Vulcans earned a pair of PSAC West victories to remain just a half game back of first place in the divisional standings. He shot a combined 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the floor while playing 36.5 minutes per game. McClurg scored 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting and added six rebounds and four assists on Wednesday in a 95-74 victory over Pitt-Johnstown. The West Virginia native then tallied 19 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 77-60 win at Mercyhurst on Saturday.

Porterfield logged two double-doubles in divisional wins for IUP last week. He just missed out on a rare triple-double to start the week with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists at Seton Hill in an 81-73 win, then notched 14 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, and an assist against Slippery Rock in a 77-64 victory. Porterfield moved to sixth all-time in school history in career scoring with 1645 total points.

McAliley led the Warriors with 22.5 ppg in a pair of wins over Bloomsburg and Millersville, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor (16-24), 60 percent from 3-point range (3-5 3PT) and 100% from the line (10-10 FT) in just 45 minute on the court. He led ESU with seven steals and added  a block. He scored 25 points in 24 minutes against Millersville, which is currently third place in the East Division standings.

McGlone totaled six steals and averaged 6.0 rebounds per game in wins over Bloomsburg and Millersville last week. He also ranked second on the team with 18.5 points per game and added four assists with a 58.6 shooting percentage from the floor. He commited just three turnovers in 60 minutes on the court.
