McClurg, Shoats highlight 2023-24 PSAC Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams and Major Awards

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has announced the 2024 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Teams and Major Award winners.

The All-Conference teams and Major Awards were determined by votes from the conference’s head coaches.

EAST

Lock Haven’s Justice Shoats was voted PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year. Shoats was second in the conference in scoring (20.4 points per game), fourth in assists (4.6 per), and fourth in steals (2.0 per), the only player to achieve top five in all three categories. He led the Bald Eagles to a 20-7 overall record (18-4 PSAC) and the No. 1 East seed in the conference tournament.

Jordan Kellier of West Chester was named PSAC Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Year after leading the conference in rebounding (10.8 per game), the only player to average double-digit boards. He also contributed 0.8 blocks, 1.1 steals, and 13.0 points per game and was a key part of West Chester finishing as the second-best rebounding team in the conference at 32.4 rebounds per contest.

Shippensburg’s Markus Frank was selected as the PSAC Eastern Division Freshman of the Year. Frank. In addition to some highlight-reel-worthy dunks, Frank averaged 17.7 points (eighth-best in the PSAC and third-best in the East), 5.8 rebounds, and just over a steal a game.

Lock Haven head coach Mike Nestor was awarded with Eastern Division Coach of the Year after finishing the regular season 20-7 overall (18-4 PSAC) and securing the East’s top seed – just one year after finishing as the fifth seed with an overall record of 17-12 and a 12-10 mark in conference play.

EAST

California’s KJ McClurg was voted PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Year after leading the conference in scoring at 22.7 points per game and adding 5.8 rebounds per game. He was named PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Week on five separate occasions, led the Vulcans to the West’s No. 2 seed, and helped the team finish with an overall record of 25-3 (19-3 in PSAC play.)

Another California Vulcan, Bryson Lucas, was selected as PSAC Western Division Defensive Player of the Year. Lucas tied for fourth in the conference in blocks with 1.1 per game and his 1.8 steals per game were seventh-most. He is the only player to appear in the top 10 in both categories and added 11.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Seton Hill’s Kedrick Curtis was named the PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Year. Curtis averaged 8.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and just under a steal a game as he started seven of the last eight games of the season for the Griffins, who finished as the West’s No. 6 seed with a 16-13 overall record (11-11 in PSAC play.)

Gannon head coach Jordan Fee was voted PSAC Western Division Coach of the Year after orchestrating one of the most incredible turnarounds in recent memory. In his first season with the Golden Knights, he transformed a team that was 3-23 overall (3-19 PSAC) in 2022-23 into the West’s No. 1 seed with an overall record of 26-2 (20-2 in conference play.)
