PSAC student-athletes add six more All-America honors at final day of 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships

DAY THREE

Day three was another successful day for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference student-athletes at the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

California's Beyonce Kelly earned fourth place and All-America First Team in the women's high jump with her best-ever jump (1.74m). Seton Hill's Natasha Bernett continued her impressive meet with a fourth-place finish in the 100m hurdles (time of 13.52) for her second All-America First Team honor of the weekend. Edinboro's Kylie Anicic wrapped up her busy meet with another All-America First Team nod, this time in the 5000m and a sixth-place finish (time of 16:53.67).

On the men's side, Shippensburg's Drew Dailey earned fifth place in the men's 800m (1:50.40) to the join All-America First Team.

A pair of PSAC standouts took home All-America Second Team honors in the men's pole vault, with Slippery Rock's Andrew Layton tallying a personal-best 5.10m to finish in 10th place, while Kutztown's Joe Jardine finished just behind in 12th place with a vault of 4.95m. In the men's javelin, Kutztown's Kevin Givone secured 14th place, launching a throw of 63.26m.

Other PSAC competitors on the day included Slippery Rock's Sarah Corrie in the women's shot put (17th place, 14.27m), IUP's Kaylla Williams in the women's javelin (19th, 41.23m), and The Rock's Joshua Gose in the men's shot put (18th, 16.34m).

In total, PSAC student-athletes collected 11 total All-America honors (both First and Second teams) at the 2024 national meet.

DAY TWO

Three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference student-athletes earned All-America First Team honors on a successful Day Two of the 2024 Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Seton Hill's Natasha Bernett had a record-breaking day, finishing fourth in the heptathlon with a new PSAC all-time record total of 5580 points. Bernett also competed in the first round of the women's 100m hurdles, qualifying for tomorrow's final with a time of 13.72.

Slippery Rock's Anna Igims became the first Rock runner since 2011 to earn All-America honors in a track event, finishing seventh in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:27.68. East Stroudsburg's Cole Gorham was also named All-America First Team in the discus throw, claiming eighth place with a mark of 53.04m that he hit on his fourth effort of the afternoon.

Shippensburg' Drew Dailey -- whose times are certainly fast enough to compete for a national title in the men's 800m -- qualified third for tomorrow's finals with a time of 1:50.57, just behind top qualifiers Johan Correa of Central Washington's 1:49.63 and Nebraska-Kearney's Wes Ferguson's 1:50.38. 

DAY ONE

A pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference student-athletes earned All-America honors on Day One of the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as Kylie Anicic (sixth in the women's 10,000m with a time of 35:14.59) and Josh Herbster (third in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 64.56m) excelled. Slippery Rock's Anna Igims also set herself up well in the women's 3,000m steeplechase, qualifying third with a time of 10:33.59 and advancing to tomorrow night's finals.

Seton Hill's Natasha Bernett had a busy day, competing in both the 400m hurdles in addition to the hepathlon. Bernett currently sits in fourth place after the first day of competition in the heptathlon.

Elsewhere, Slippery Rock sprinter Kanye Thompson posted a 10.34 (16th quickest) in the 100m and did not advance to the finals, while Millersville's Darian Hauf finished in 15th place in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.85m.
 


INDIANAPOLIS – 15 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference student-athletes, eight men and seven women, have been selected to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as announced by the NCAA on Thursday evening.

The National Championship meet is scheduled for May 23-25 at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan.
 
MEN

Slippery Rock leads the way with a trio of selections – Kanye Thompson in the 100-meter dash, Drew Layton in the pole vault, and Joshua Gose in the shot put.
 
Shippensburg will send a pair of Raiders, Drew Dailey in the 800m run and Joshua Herbster in the hammer throw, while the Kutztown duo of Kevin Givone (javelin throw) and Joe Jardine (pole vault) are also headed to Emporia.
 
East Stroudsburg’s Cole Gorham will also compete in the discus throw.
 
WOMEN
 
Seton Hill’s Natasha Bernett will compete in three events at the national meet—the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, and heptathlon. Edinboro’s Kylie Anicic qualified in two events and will run both the 10,000m and 5,000m races, while Slippery Rock’s Anna Igims will race the in 3,000m steeplechase.
 
In the field events, California’s Beyonce Kelly will compete in the high jump, with Slippery Rock’s Sarah Corrie (shotput), IUP's Kaylla Williams (javelin), and Millersville's Darian Hauf (pole vault) also competing.
