ATLANTIC REGION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
West Liberty defeats Gannon, 101-90
The Gannon Golden Knights lost their first game since Feb. 1 in the 101-90 loss to West Liberty in the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Atlantic Region Championship Game. A frantic, high-tempo first half saw Gannon only trailing by four at the break, 51-47, before West Liberty kept the pressure on and pulled away late in the second half.
All five Gannon starters scored in double figures, led by Ernest Shelton (21 points, nine rebounds), Tasman Goodrick (16 points, 14 rebounds), Pace Prosser (15 points, four assists), Justin Debuck (14 points, six assists), and Victor Desmond (14 points, four steals.)
Gannon concludes the 2024-25 season with an overall record of 27-7 and the 2025 PSAC Championship.
SEMIFINALS
Gannon defeats Virginia State, 92-66
The Gannon Golden Knights advanced to the Atlantic Region title game after a 92-66 romp over Virginia State. Gannon Ernest Shelton was nearly unstoppable, scoring a game-high 32 potints, making 11-of-13 free throws, and adding two steals and two blocks. Justin Debuck added 19 points and Tasman Goodrick added a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards in the winning effort as well. GU will face West Liberty in Tuesday night's Atlantic Region Championship Game, scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
QUARTERFINALS
Virginia State defeats West Chester, 80-64
West Chester's season came to a close after an 80-64 loss to Virginia State on Saturday. Elijah Allen led the Golden Rams with a game-high 25 points, and WCU ends the season with a 23-7 overall record.
Gannon defeats East Stroudsburg, 99-74
Gannon defeated East Stroudsburg, 99-74, to advance to Sunday's semifinals. GU's Tasman Goodrick led all scorers with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Pace Prosser added 22 points and 7 assists. ESU's Lakeem McAliley led the Warriors with 16 points.
INDIANAPOLIS - A trio of
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's basketball programs were selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, as announced by the NCAA late Sunday night.
The No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region is 2025 PSAC champion Gannon (25-6 overall), who defeated Shepherd in the 2025 PSAC Championship game on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Knights will face another PSAC squad, No. 7 East Stroudsburg (21-8), in the quarterfinals.
The No. 6 seed in the bracket is West Chester (23-6), who will face off against No. 3 seed Virginia St.
Top-seeded West Liberty, who lost in triple overtime to Fairmont St. in the MEC Championship Game, will host next weekend's Atlantic Regional.
