PSAC Volleyball Athletes of the Week – 3

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selected this week’s volleyball athletes of the week. From the East, Jamie Byrne of West Chester and Anna Coulter of East Stroudsburg were selected, while in the West, Paige Cole of Seton Hill and Abigail Selfridge of Clarion were picked.

Jamie Byrne turned in a pair of strong efforts for West Chester on Saturday to lead the Golden Rams to a pair of victories over Nyack and Lincoln in a home tri-match inside Hollinger Field House. Against Nyack to start the day, Byrne registered 19 digs and one block but also logged a career-high six aces to help lead West Chester to its first victory of the day by a final of 3-0. In the nightcap vs Lincoln, Byrne logged 21 more assists to go along with four kills and three aces, leading West Chester to another 3-0 victory to go 2-0 on the afternoon.

Coulter helped the Warriors to a 2-2 weekend as she produced 2.42 kills (29 total), 1.08 blocks (13 total) and 0.67 digs (8 total) per set. The freshman currently ranks tied for 8th in the PSAC with 31 blocks this season.

Cole led the Griffins to a 3-0 record at their own tournament this past weekend. Paige ended the weekend with 52 kills and 30 digs. She only had 8 errors in 94 attempts, hitting .468 on the weekend. Cole had a career high 27 kills in the five-set win over Point Park. Paige had 12 kills and only one error in 18 attempts vs Concord.

Abigail Selfridge became the most recent player in program history to top 1,000 career digs, as she helped the Golden Eagles to a 3-1 record at the Atlantic Region Crossover hosted by Wheeling and West Liberty. The junior libero totaled 81 digs over the weekend - an average of 5.06 digs per set - as Clarion improved to 10-1 on the season. She was also instrumental in the team's win on the final day of the Wildcat Den Classic hosted by Daemen, with 18 digs in three sets against Franklin Pierce. Selfridge became the 17th player in program history to eclipse the 1,000 Dig mark.
