PSAC Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week - 7

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week honorees. In the West, Edinboro's Reilly Parent was selected as Athlete of the Week while Clarion's Julia Rodriguezr was named Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the East, the East Stroudsburg's Anna Coulter (Athlete) and Shippensburg's Isabelle Bombas (Defensive) earned the honors.

Parent was a force for the Scots on offense recording 57 kills in three matches including a pair of PSAC West wins. She averaged 4.75 kills per set over three games and 5.29 points per set.  Parent was dominant in the Scots 3-1 victory over California (PA) on Saturday tallying 28 kills and hitting .479 while also scoring nine digs and a solo block. On Friday, the Scots swept Seton Hill with Parent recording 10 kills, nine digs and a block assist. In the Scots non-conference tilt with Lake Erie she tallied 19 kills two service aces and 11 digs.

Rodriguez was strong at the net over a pair of matches last week, leading the Golden Eagles with an average of 1.63 blocks per set in a win over Pitt-Johnstown and a loss at IUP. In the win over the Mountain Cats Rodriguez totaled five blocks, and in the second match of the weekend recorded eight blocks against the Crimson Hawks.

Coulter led ESU to two conference road wins this weekend over Lock Haven (3-0) on Friday and Bloomsburg (3-2) on Saturday. Combined for 27 kills, 15 total blocks, 39.5 points, 2 services aces, and averaged a .406 hitting percentage. Posted 19 kills and 27.5 points against Bloomsburg, both were season highs.

Shippensburg claimed road wins in four sets at West Chester and Millersville and is now 7-0 in conference play after completing the first half of the Eastern Division schedule. Bombas, who is a typically consistent middle hitter (12 kills, .500 in 20 attempts this week), asserted herself as a blocker for the Raiders. She contributed 13 blocks over the two matches - seven (two solo, five assisted) against West Chester, and six (three solo, three assisted) against Millersville. The performances now have Bombas tied for sixth in the PSAC this season in blocking; she is averaging 0.95 blocks per set and has 75 total. In PSAC East matches she is averaging 0.97 blocks per set.
