PSAC Golf Athletes of the Week - 1

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its first set of Golf Athletes of the Week for the 2023 season. Gannon's Ryan Ferry and IUP's Alex Swinnerton were named Men's Golf Co-Athletes of the Week, while California's Keegan Selinsky and Bloomsburg's Olivia Martinez were selected as Women's Golf Co-Athletes of the Week.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its first set of Golf Athletes of the Week for the 2023 season. Gannon's Ryan Ferry and IUP's Alex Swinnerton were named Men's Golf Co-Athletes of the Week, while California's Keegan Selinsky and Bloomsburg's Olivia Martinez were selected as Women's Golf Co-Athletes of the Week.

Selinsky captured medalist honors at the Vulcan Invitational on Monday after winning a one-hole playoff with the first-round leader, Bloomsburg's Olivia Martinez. She carded a 13-over 155 (77-78) over two rounds at Cedarbrook Golf Course before shooting par on the playoff hole. Selinsky was one stroke back of the leaders after the opening round before earning medalist laurels for the first time in her career. The Ohio native became the first Cal golfer to win a home event since 2016.

Olivia Martinez shot the lowest score in Huskies' Women's Golf history in round one of the Vulcan Invitational with a career-low 76. In round two she posted a 79 to finish tied for first after 36 holes of play. Martinez finished in second after competing in a playoff with California's Keegan Selinsky. Overall, Martinez finished with a score of 155 (+13).

Ryan Ferry opened the 2023-24 men's golf season by leading Gannon to a team title in the California (PA) Vulcan Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday. Ferry shot a 2-under-par 214 total over 54 holes to capture the individual title by three shots in the 107-golfer field. On Sunday, he shot an even-par 144 over 36 holes to take a one-shot lead. He expanded that lead Monday when he shot a 2-under 70. That made the difference as Gannon held on for a two-shot victory over Pitt-Johnstown in the team standings. Ferry won one tournament title in 2022-23 but tied for the low score three other times, only to fall in a playoff. He was an All-PSAC first-team selection last season.

Swinnerton won the opening event of the season for IUP men's golf at the 54-hole Glade Springs Kickoff, hosted by Charleston (W.Va.)… Had consecutive rounds of four-under par 68 to build a substantial lead on his way to a 54-hole score of 211 (-5)
