LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week honorees. In the West, Gannon's Bengisu Arslan was selected as Athlete of the Week while California's Caroline Mercer was named Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the East, the East Stroudsburg's Anna Coulter (Athlete) and Shippensburg's Shay Kolivoski (Defensive) earned the honors.

Arslan totaled 62 assists (10.33/set) while adding 14 digs, 4 blocks, and 3 aces in two PSAC West road sweeps that secured the division’s top seed. In Saturday’s win at IUP, she recorded her 4,000th career assist, becoming only the third player in Gannon volleyball history to reach the milestone.

Mercer averaged 5.79 digs per set last week, as California finished with a 2-1 record with both wins being in five sets versus divisional opponents. She tallied 19 digs and seven assists in a 3-1 loss against G-MAC-leading Walsh (Ohio) on Tuesday. Mercer established a career high with 33 digs and added six assists on Friday in a 3-2 victory over Slippery Rock. The Ohio native finished the week with 29 digs and eight assists in a 3-2 win against Clarion on Saturday, as the Vulcans swept the series with the Golden Eagles for the first time since 2016.

Friday against Lock Haven, Coulter notched 20 kills for her second 20-kill match this season and recorded a season-high .643 hitting percentage. Coulter totaled four blocks, 23.5 points, and a service ace. Saturday against Bloomsburg, she led floor with 15 kills, hit . 400, 4 total blocks, 17.5 points. Two games combined for 35 kills, 8 blocks, avg hitting % (.521), one service ace, 41 points.

Kolivoski, who continues to rank among the PSAC's Top 5 in digs and digs per set (10th overall in D2 in total digs), added 32 more to her total (5.3 per set) as the Raiders swept West Chester and Millersville to move to 10-0 in the PSAC East. She did not allow a reception error on 22 attempts, and her back-row passing resulted in six assists for the offense. Her match-high 20 digs against Millersville marked the 16th time in 24 matches this season that she has totaled 20 or more digs in a contest.
