LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Women’s Tennis Athletes of the Week. In the West, Slippery Rock's Amaia Balaguer Brau earned the honor. In the East, Bloomsburg's Jen McDonald was selected.

Balaguer Brau guided The Rock to a regular-season finale shutout of California in what was SRU’s lone match last week. In a contest that decided who would earn the No. 2 seed out of the PSAC West – and the accompanying home match that comes with it in the PSAC Tournament quarterfinals - Balaguer Brau not only led her No. 2 doubles pairing to a 6-0 victory she also beat Teddi Isherwood 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 from the first flight to cap off a perfect 6-0 PSAC West record. Balaguer Brau – the No. 35 ranked singles athlete in the nation – has now won 10 straight matches and is 23-8 on the year overall.

McDonald led the Huskies to a perfect 2-0 week and a clinch of the PSAC East Regular Season Title. McDonald and Alyssa Mazurek went 1-0 in doubles and McDonal finished the week 2-0 in singles play. McDonald and Mazurek defeated ESU 6-0 to open doubles action on Wednesday. McDonald followed her doubles performance with the match-clinching point at No. 3 singles with a score of 6-3, 6-4 over her ESU opponent. The match win also clinched the top seed in the PSAC East for the upcoming championship tournament. McDonald clinched the match against Shippensburg as well with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No.3 singles to help complete the perfect PSAC East season 6-0.
