2025 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship: Slippery Rock concludes season in round of 16

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - Slippery Rock women's tennis program concluded its season on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to No. 2 seed Nova Southeastern in the round of 16 at the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship.  

 

ATLANTIC REGIONAL RESULTS - MONDAY, MAY 12

Slippery Rock defeats IUP, 4-3


Rivals Slippery Rock and IUP battled down to the last flight, as they did in the PSAC Championship Match, but this time it was a different result: with the match tied 3-3, The Rock's Georgia Lancaster defeated IUP's Annemiek Sterk at flight No. 6, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6, to clinch the victory for SRU.

IUP opened the match by claiming the doubles points with wins by Ming Deewajee/Dani Ramos and Hannah Beitat/Asel Calbay, then took the first two flights, as Lieselotte Hartlohner bested Amaia Balaguer Brau, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, and Deewajee defeated Alissia Kivi, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. The Rock rattled off three wins after that, with Nicole Kempton, Tina Slovak, and Dari Sakhanova all victorious to set up the final, winner-take-all flight No. 6 battle.

Slippery Rock will now compete in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship -- scheduled for next Wednesday, May 21 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

IUP defeats Bloomsburg, 4-0

Slippery Rock defeats Shaw, 4-0


There was plenty of action today in one pod of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Atlantic Regional, as IUP defeated Bloomsburg, 4-0, and Slippery Rock bested Shaw, 4-0.

IUP and Slippery Rock (who met in the PSAC Championship Match, with IUP winning 4-3) will face off once again tomorrow at 1 PM -- with the winner advancing as one of the two teams out of the Atlantic Region.

 

INDIANAPOLIS - Three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's tennis teams were selected to compete in the upcoming 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship, as announced by the NCAA on Monday night. The No. 2 seed and host one of the Atlantic Regional pods is IUP, fresh off a fifth consecutive PSAC title. IUP faces No.7 seed Bloomsburg, making its first appearance since 2010, in the opening round next Monday, May 12. In the other quarterfinal at IUP, No. 3 seed Slippery Rock faces No. 6 seed Shaw.

The winners of both of those matches will meet on Tuesday, May 13 in the Atlantic Region semifinals.
